WEST BROM have signed Nigerian international Brown Ideye from Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv.
The 25-year-old has smashed the Baggies’ club record transfer fee after completing his £9m move to the Hawthorns.
West Brom boss Alan Irvine was delighted with his signing, telling the clubs official website: “Brown is a quality striker and I’m looking forward to working with him.
“He’s a strong, quick, powerful player who likes to get in behind defences and has plenty of Champions League and international experience.”
Ideye constitutes Irvine’s fifth signing of the summer – following Chris Baird, Craig Gardner, Joleon Lescott and Sebastien Pocognoli to the Midlands.
Although little is known about the Nigerian striker – Baggies fans will be pleased with his evident goalscoring prowess.
33 goals in 74 appearances for Ukrainian Premier League side Dynamo Kyiv proves he is capable of finding the net.
However eyebrows will be raised by West Brom fans after smashing their club record fee on a player who failed to make Stephen Keshi’s 23-man World Cup squad.
