What Should Be Keshi’s New Targets As Super Eagles Coach?

The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation have approved the contract extension of Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi who himself has accepted the offer to work again as the Nigerian national team coach after his earlier contract with the NFF terminated at the end of Nigeria’s 2014 World Cup campaign.

The NFF Committee have also approved that the board finalise the details of Keshi’s re-engagement.

With Keshi’s new contract offer, comes huge expectations from the national team chief coach which is expected to include qualification to the 2015 African Cup of Nations and retaining the AFCON title he won with the team in 2013. Keshi is also expected to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

If these are the targets for Keshi in his second instalment as Eagles coach, do you think the NFF would be setting realistic targets or will the set goals laid down for Keshi be too much to achieve?

What do you think will be Keshi’s approach to his handling of the team in a bid to reaching those standards?

The NFF is unrealistic in the portion where it states that Keshi must retain the Nations’ Cup! Did they expect him to win it before he won it. He should be allowed the freedom to set his own expectations and not be under undue pressure. What will e will be!!!

The goal to qualify for the tournament and also Russia 2018 are the only realistic target that makes sense

he’s got human abilities and perception from his actions it goes to explain in itself total review of his past mistake and “found wanting areas” that can be redressed regardless of his underlying zeal to win all games,i believe if he is open to modification in his handling review and advancement in tending to microscopic complex matters then the sky is just the starting point

Goals should be S – Specific, M- Measurable, A -Attainable, R- Realistic, T-Timely. Qualification for Russia 2018 and Nations cup 2015 meet these criteria. Retaining the nations cup does not meet these criteria. Somebody should educate these illiterates in NFF about goal setting.

  • WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF APPOINTING A PERSON IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE BEST. WE WANT TO WIN THE CUPS LIKE AS ALL OTHER COUNTRIES. SO IT IS A REALISTIC ONE. WHAT KESHI NEEDS TO DO IS TO LEARN FROM HIS WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE. SOME PLAYERS GROSSLY DISAPPOINTED HIM AND SOME WERE MISTAKENLY CHOSEN. HE IS NOW IN A BETTER POSITION TO KNOW WHAT AND WHO TO. IF YOU ARE NOT PLAYING REGULARLY FOR YOUR CLUB OR YOU HAVE NO CLUB THEN YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS IN THE TEAM

If Keshi gets the Job finally, its good for him and for the country as a whole. NFF should not set unrealistic goals for him. They should take it one at a time. First, we need to qualify for the tournaments (AFCON and WORD CUP). This I think is the most important. Secondly, Keshi should improve our style of play. This will include, getting attackers with pace and strength. We need more option in the attack and we should play more as a team. We want to see Nigeria hold teams like Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland to a draw or even defeat them. Much more than winning trophies, let us play good football. If we improve our style of play then we can win trophies. This they should hammer and should be the focal point of any goal to be set. KESHI, IMPROVE OUR STYLE OF PLAY. Get Strikers that are Hungry for goals. finally, NFF should also take caution and learn from their past mistakes. They should not withhold players and coaches appearance fee. Must we always expose our weakness to the world. Corruption has eaten deep into everyone. This they should drum to the ears of NFF members. You have enough money with you. Do not get these teams distracted again. PLEASE. A word is enough for the wise.

Targeting Keshi is not the first thing. Nobody believed that he would win the previous edition of AFCON because of the condition he met the team. He was able to tinker it with big heart despite some misunderstanding with some key player. Do not think that it is proper for NFF to give him target. Football is not a mathematics. I know there is element of luck in footballing. Best clubs sometimes do not qualify for major competitions. If Keshi is given mandate to qualify Nigerian for AFCON and World Cup, it is not realistic and I advise him not to accept such conditions period. Keshi is not a “Mineral Worker”. So NFF should please listen to the drums of Nigerians before acting so that they will not put Keshi under unnecessary pressure.

I thank God for Keshi’s life. At least, he tried his best but can still do more if he can have mind of forgiveness. There were some players he supposed to include in his list during the last World Cup campaing. He should try and extend invitation to them. Nigeria is a bad loser when it comes to soccer. So he needs to look inward and outward for more green horns. By this sky will be his limit. He should not be stressed too much. He should be allowed to build a solid team that everybody will be proud about.

it is a good thing that keshi has been made the good work he has started. i would suggest that he should be given a free hand to work on the team. God bless Nigeria,God bless super eagles.

Every employer’s have set a Target for his employees because the employee is been paid for, So therefore, Keshi should try as much as he can to meet up those set targets. Thank you…

My suggestions to the NFF : please don’t owe any coach you appointed, make adequate preparation on time, let dedicated players be selected, and let us be sincere

the Big Boss must up his tactis and game, yes he done history for himself but look at the issues with
the team at the mundial : no quality replacement from the bench
players taken to the mundial bcos one thing or the other and they failed,
no willing to give quality youngsters a change like most quality driven coaches will do
modern football has gone beyond an average manager like the Big Boss but give us quality on the field of play and on the bench and it is means going for refresher courses in Portugal, germany, spain etc
it must be done, pls lets not keep comparing ourselves to the african globe but the world stage .
