What’s Your Opinion About The Latest FIFA Threat Over NFF Crises?

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Friday, 29th August 2014, in a letter sent to the Nigeria Football Federation, warned that the NFF board presided over by Chris Giwa after last Tuesday’s NFF Congress is null and void.

FIFA insists that the embattled NFF ‘President’ must vacate his position on Monday or Nigeria risks a sanction from the world football governing body. The immediate consequence of FIFA sanctions on Nigeria at this time will be a disqualification of the Super Eagles’ from defending the AFCON title in 2015.

Dear reader, what is your candid opinion about this persisting crises at the NFF?

Giwa, a club proprietor, has stated that the NFF will respond to FIFA’s stern warning and insists that the Board is not expecting any sanction, claiming they’ve not committed any wrongdoing.

The NFF melodrama seems not to abate as there are new twists to the leadership tussles in the Glass House on a daily basis.

From the NFF Congresses held at two different hotels and a building still under construction in Abuja to a Communique released under a tree,  the several arrests and the several intimidation by the Police and other Security and Crime agencies, the Nigeria Football Federation has made Nigerian football an object of ridicule in the past few weeks.

Despite FIFA’s protestations about the eligibility of Giwa’s board which ousted Aminu Maigari from his post, Giwa has defiantly insisted the NFF will not be sanctioned by FIFA before Monday. But is Cris Giwa right? Or is he taking Nigerians for a ride?

What do you think is the way out of this menace? What should have been the best possible way to handle the NFF elections?

Do you feel Chris Giwa’s ‘appointment’ into the troubled NFF is legal or otherwise? Is FIFA right or wrong in threatening to sanction Nigeria?

The only way out is President Goodluck Jonathan to tell the so caLled Minister of football and not of sports to remove his hands from this matter and also tell Chris Giwa to vacate the seat with immediate effect, or else Nigeria would be banned by FIFA, and we will not defend our AFCON title, a repeat of what happened in 1996. We have to strictly comply with FIFA ruLes and regulations if we want to remain affiliated with them. PERIOD!

FIFA is the author of this confusion.

FIFA encouraged the corruption in football federations.

What should be done is for the ministry responsible for sports to intervene but the almighty FIFA will call it government intervention in this obviously confuse board without direction.

The wise thing to do is for the government that pays the bill invite FIFA to come and sort out the mess in the glasshouse. This endless hullabaloo in the glasshouse can only end with external intervention.

On the threat of ban, FIFA has no morality to do so but should readdress its laws so that actors will not use it for their selfish desires.

I think Nigeria should conduct proper election.
Nigeria should in the meantime stop any further funding and invite FIFA.
Nigeria should publish to the world if they have evidence that NFF is bribing FIFA. Europeans are gathering against Blatter and will welcome such revelation.

Maigari faction should have their congress and election as directed by FIFA, after which Giwa is ejected from the NFF secretariat.
