Danny Willett is relishing his return to Prague in the Czech Masters after a four-year absence and is aiming for a “good week” of golf. The 30-year-old Englishman had only won one European Tour event the last time he featured at the Albatross Golf Resort in 2014, but went on to claim two more in the following year and also sealed second place in the race to Dubai standings.
Willett enjoyed an impressive 2016 with a Dubai Desert Classic victory followed up by his one and only major success at the Masters in Augusta.
Willett’s form has dipped since that career highlight, while injuries have also played a part in his demise which has resulted in him dropping down the world rankings.
He made just one of his first seven cuts in 2018, before a steady improvement resulted in a top 10 finish in the Italian Open, while he was also in the top 20 in the Irish Open and Scottish Open respectively.
Willett also enjoyed a top-25 finish at the Open Championship last month and he now wants to carry that on in the Czech Republic this week.
He told the European Tour website: “I’ve had a tough time with injury the last couple of years, withdrawing from a lot of tournaments and with a lot of time off. So it was a struggle for 18 months or two years.
“But I’ve started seeing Sean Foley as my coach a year ago and things have turned around a little. I’ve started to enjoy golf again, my body is pretty much back to where it was and I’m really excited to be back in Europe again and hopefully I can play some good golf this week.
“We were talking about coming and playing here at the Czech Masters and it must have inspired me to play well because I’ve had some good results since then! Hopefully I can come here now and compete.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
