West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere says boss Manuel Pellegrini was one of the reasons he chose to join the club in the summer. The England midfielder called time on his Arsenal career last summer, after a chat with their new coach Unai Emery, and signed a three year deal at the London Stadium.
Wilshere has compared Pellegrini to his old boss Arsene Wenger and says they share a similar philosophy to the game. “I spoke with [Pellegrini] and he was a big influence, it was a big reason – wanting to be part of the way he wanted to play football,” he told BT Sport.
“[His style] is similar [to Wenger’s] because they both want the ball and they both want to win the ball back high and press, and when they get the ball back they want to play football and open teams up. “Some things are different but I guess the way both managers want to play on the front foot with the ball is quite similar. “I’m happy with how it has gone, I’m happy with the choice I’ve made.
“I’m just looking forward to getting back and helping the lads out, they’ve been fantastic since I’ve been out, they’ve picked up some vital points.”Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
