West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere looks set to miss up to six weeks of action after having surgery on his ankle. The England international has suffered another injury setback in his career and missed Sunday’s 3-1 win at Everton.
Wilshere left Arsenal in the summer after a number of injuries but started the Hammers’ first four Premier League games.
The 26-year-old underwent surgery on Monday and will now miss games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Although some fans will be worried, West Ham’s head of medical, Richard Collinge, said the operation was a success.
He said in a statement on the club’s official website: “Jack underwent successful surgery in London on Monday morning for a minor ongoing ankle issue.
“The surgeon was happy with the procedure and all went as planned.
“We envisage he will only need a relatively short period of rest and will then start his rehabilitation. Jack is focused and determined to get back training and playing as soon as possible.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
