Woodburn Makes History, Ejaria Shines As Liverpool, Hull Reach EFL Cup Semis

Liverpool qualified for the English Football League semi-final on Tuesday night after a 2-0 victory over Leeds United at Anfield.
Divock Origi poked home in the 76th minute to open the scoring against an impressive Leeds side.
Substitute Ben Woodburn, 17, sealed the win in the 81st minute with his first ever Liverpool goal in his second game for the club.
Woodburn became Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer at 17 years and 45 days with his strike from close range.
Last year’s losing finalists Liverpool fielded youngsters including Nigerian midfielder Ovie Ejaria and rested several regulars like Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip against the Championship side.
Ejaria, who has been mentioned as a possible Nigeria international, was impressive in the Liverpool midfield.
The weakened Liverpool line-up offered Leeds some hope and the second-tier club gave the Premier League side a tough time.
Leeds came close several times, Kemar Roofe hitting the upright in the 58th minute with Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet beaten.
Giorginio Wijnaldum also hit the base of the upright for Liverpool in the 72nd minute after being put through by Sadio Mane, before Jurgen Klopp’s side finally found the breakthrough to reach their fourth League Cup semi-final in the last six seasons.
In the other quarter-final on Tuesday night, Premier League strugglers Hull City defeated Championship leaders Newcastle 3-1 on penalties after full- and extra-time ended 1-1.
