Tiger Woods says he has never felt as much love and warmth from the fans after returning from injury this year. The fourteen-time major winner looked to be finished after he underwent four back operations, the most recent of which came in April 2017, but has made a remarkable recovery and is back in the hunt for majors.
The 42-year-old was in contention at both the Open Championship and US PGA before just missing out, while there is a very good chance he could represent the USA again at the Ryder Cup.
Woods is delighted to be back and is just as happy to be feeling the love from the golfing community, believing he has earned some new fans along the way.
“I think people are more appreciative,” said Woods. “They’ve all gone through it – when you get to your forties you’re feeling it.
“They know I’m at the tail-end of my career. I don’t know how many years I’ve got left but I’m certain I’m not like I was when I was 22. At 42 it is a different ball game.”
