Wozniacki Battles Past Sevastova In China

World number two Caroline Wozniacki secured her third win of the campaign at the China Open after beating Anastasija Sevastova. The reigning Australian Open champion secured a 6-3 6-3 victory inside 87 minutes in Beijing as she won her first title since Eastbourne in June.

Sunday’s win was her second at the event in 10 years and it now takes her to 30 career titles on the WTA circuit.
The 28-year-old claimed the only break of the first set in the sixth game before eventually winning another break in the second. She sealed the win on her own serve and admits her game is now in a good place.

Wozniacki told the WTA official website: “I didn’t feel great going into the tournament, to be honest. I think after the second match I started feeling like I was hitting the ball well and I could see the ball really well.

“By the third match, I thought I played really great tennis. Then I started believing that, you know, I’m really hitting my form, playing myself into shape.

“I feel like I’m playing well. I think it’s obviously very difficult in Singapore. It’s going to be the top players. You have to play extremely well.

“This week definitely gives me a lot of confidence. I feel like I’m playing the way I want to be playing right now.”
