Wydad Insist Chikatara Belongs To Them, Threaten Abia Warriors

By Adeboye Amosu:

Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca insisted they have signed Nigeria international Chisom Chikatara despite his club Abia Warriors stating otherwise, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The forward penned a contract with the former African champions early in the year, but the agreement was cancelled by Abia Warriors after Wydad allegedly failed to fulfil their contractual obligations.
The player himself has also stated he is not keen on playing for the club and instead is looking forward to securing a move to Europe.
But it now appears Wydad are not ready to let go of the player easily, insisting they have fulfilled all agreements with Abia Warriors and are awaiting the player’s arrival in Casablanca.
“Chisom Chikatara, the new Wydad signing, did not arrive in Casablanca as scheduled, even though Wydad met all the details of his transfer by the due dates, and took all legal measures to ensure his smooth transition,” the club wrote on their official website.
“According to the national and international laws and regulations in this matter, Wydad board of directors will contact the president of Abia Warriors to question the failure to commit to what was agreed upon.
“The board of directors also renews their commitment to all the agreements and terms of their contract with both the club and the player; however we are not open to re-negotiations, and will not allow any kind of blackmailing, because above all, the board defends the interests of our club.
“The club maintains its position and respects all aspect of his agreement signed in the past and awaits the arrival of his new player Chisom Chikatara.”
Chikatara made the headlines after scoring four goals for Nigeria at the Africa Nations Championship in January.
