Like Manuel Pellegrini, his boss at the Etihad,Yaya Toure has tipped Kelechi Iheanacho to shine in the English Premier League with Manchester City.
Iheanacho has been in inspiring form for the Premier League champions, scoring a goal apiece against Kansas City and AC Milan respectively in pre-season matches. He also scored City’s only penalty kick in the shoot-out loss to Liverpool on Wednesday in the Guiness International Cup game in the USA.
Speaking exclusively to the club’s official website,Toure said that Iheanacho was an exciting and promising talent, who he said with time and mentoring will blossom to a top talent.
“Kelechi is an exciting player. I love the way he plays and I feel that he will have a good career at the club and go on to become one of the players of the future”, Toure said.
Pellegrini had earlier passed a vote of confidence in the Nigerian starlet after he scored on his City debut.
The Man City coach believes the youngster is destined for a bright future and would like to see his potential unlocked at the Etihad Stadium.
Paul Handler of the Manchester Evening News has also hailed the Nigerian for his prodigious talent.
He writes: “On first look, Kelechi Iheanacho looks a great prospect.
“He was a livewire up front against Sporting KC in City’s first tour match and looks quick and mobile, pulling the home defenders all over the place.
“He certainly doesn’t lack confidence, firing off a couple of powerful first half shots from his left-foot.”
