Toro Rosso are reportedly considering approaching Michael Schumacher’s son, Mick, to be their 2019 replacement for Pierre Gasly. Gasly has been promoted to drive alongside Max Verstappen in the senior Red Bull car next season.
Advisor Helmut Marko recently claimed that he had drawn up a shortlist of 10 potential drivers who could replace the Frenchman at the development team in 2019.
However, there could even be two seats available after Marko gave a lukewarm response to Brendon Hartley’s performances so far in a season where he has managed to finish in the points only twice.
Motorsport reports that Schumacher’s profile is growing after an eye-catching run of results in Formula 3, where the 19-year-old has taken the chequered flag in six of the last 10 races.
He would need 20 Super License points to be granted the right to compete in Formula 1 and his recent fine form in Formula 3 should provide him with enough to pass that mark.
Esteban Ocon, whose position at Force India is in doubt, and Stoffel Vandoorne, recently replaced at McLaren by rookie Lando Norris, are other names in the frame.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
