Bassey Morsy scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute, converting from the spot after Enyimba captain Chinedu Udoji handled the ball in the box.

Enyimba went into the game knowing that nothing but a win will be good for their hopes of making it to the semi-finals.

The Peoples Elephant battled hard in the first half but were unable to break down their opponents who adopted a cautious approach knowing that a draw would be enough to see them through to the last four.

Their resistance was however broken when the hosts were awarded a penalty.

Morsi, who scored the winning goal when both sides met in the reverse fixture, cooly slotted the ball past Theophilus Afelokhai on 63 minutes.

Chima Akas came close to restoring parity for the visitors few minutes later but his effort hit the woodwork.
The hosts came close to doubling their lead twice in the closing stages of the game but were thwarted by Afelokhai.
