Zambia Coach Hopes For Super Eagles Defeat In Yaounde

Zambia Coach Hopes For Super Eagles Defeat In Yaounde

By Johnny Edward:

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda is hoping the battered Indomitable Lions of Cameroon avenge their 4-0 bashing suffered in the hands of the Super Eagles in their reverse fixture on Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Nyirenda who led his side to a 3-1 win over Algeria on Saturday also described the win as vital in their race to clinch the sole ticket in the African qualifying Group B for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The win at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka meant Zambia end their World Cup jinx against Algeria, thanks to brace from Brian Mwila in the sixth and 32nd minutes and another late strike from Enock Mwepu despite Yacine Brahimi getting on target.

“It was not an easy game for us, it was a big challenge for us but all in all our main was to get the three points which we have achieved so that we stay in the race,” Nyirenda told Lusaka Times after the game on Saturday.

“Nigeria lead the group but I believe Cameroon can beat them on Monday and hopefully we also win our game.”

Zambia  who lost 2-1 to Nigeria on matchday 1 of the World Cup qualifying series are currently second in Group B and will be guests of group leaders, the Super Eagles, on October 7.

This Zambia coach is a dreamer. can his own team survive the onslaught in Algiers come Tuesday? bad belle. Nigeria is doing a double over Cameroon come Monday. Expect 2-0 victory from the Eagles!

Even though many things are possible in football, I do not see the Zambians beating both Algeria and Nigeria away. And if they are not careful, they may lose to the wounded Indomitable Lions at home.

@complete sport Zambia should be on 6 points because they lost to Nigeria and have won two matches.

      • They have four points. They drew away to Cameron and won at home against Algeria.

      • @Eze,Zambia just got their 1st win with a loss and a draw in their first and second match. It’s 4points

      • eza, zambia lost out home to nigeria then played one all in cameroun now they won against algeria they have 4points ok

@Gospel Eze, Zambia is on 4points, they drew with Cameroon and won Algeria. Or do you have any other explanation?

      • Kardinal 5 years ago

They won only one and drew the other

  • Zambia won 1 lost 1 and drew 1 that’s four points. They drew with CAM

This is my prediction Mr. Wada, the Zambian coach. You will lose against Algeria on Tuesday. The Chipolopolo, your team, will end match day 4 on 4 points, just like the Algerian Desert Foxes. Nigeria will beat Cameroon again on Monday which takes them to 12 points and the Indomitable Lions on 2 points. For the last two matches, the maximum number of points you can get, Mr. Wada, is 6. If you add that to the points you will still be having after Tuesday games, that makes it 10 points. Meaning, your team can’t catch our Super Eagles, even if we decide not play the last two matches. And don’t forget, you will still have to fight for 3 of these points with Nigeria in Nigeria in October or so. So stop dreaming. Super Eagles are as good as being in Russia 2018.

  • Someone should wake him up, day dreamer…. up Eagles

  • I warn you to stop dreaming but you refused to listen, Zambian coach.

Assuming we lost morrow and Zambia win, we still be 9 points while they will get 7. We will beat them silly to qualify even before the last match. Zambian coach is a fantastic dreamer.

Fact is, Zambia still has a mathematical chance of qualifying ahead of us – if they win all their remaining games, and we lose ours. We can only achieve an unassailable lead if we win the return leg in Yaoundé and our next game.
So the work is not done yet, we should talk less and focus on winning our next two games. I trust this Super Eagles set can do that. Let’s not detract them by assuming that we have already qualified.
