Zinedine Zidane has expressed his delight after he led Real Madrid to beat Atletico Madrid in the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Cristiano Ronaldo converted Real’s decisive spot kick to secure a 5-3 penalty shootout win and earn an 11th Champions League title.
Sergio Ramos gave Real the lead before Yannick Carrasco equalised for Atletico.
In his post-match press conference, Zidane said: “I’m very happy for everything we’ve achieved together. It’s not easy at all. We’ve really worked hard, fought it hard.
“When you win something as big as the Champions League, it means a lot – for the players and the technical staff.
“When you have players of this calibre, with this talent, you can achieve something big like we have tonight.
“I’m happy because I’ve been part of this great club for a long time now. I feel really very proud.
He added: “Carlo Ancelotti said;”if you have the chance to win as coach, you’ll see it feels nothing like winning as a player.”
He went on to praise Ronaldo on his impact in the game and also stressed his own input to the team’s success.
“Cristiano ran a lot, fought it out, and gave us the victory. He always help the team a lot.”
“What I’ve brought is my positive attitude. We have quality, but hard work is even more important – and we’ve worked hard.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
