2023 WWC: Jamaica Knock Out Brazil To Reach Last 16

2023 WWC: Jamaica Knock Out Brazil To Reach Last 16

Brazil were knocked out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 0-0 draw against Jamaica in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon.

Jamaica also made history as the first Caribbean nation to reach the Round of 16 in the history of the competition.

Brazil dominated proceedings for a larger part of the contest but failed to breach the Jamaican defence.

The Reggae Girlz created very little going forward but such was their work at the back, that mattered little.

Jamaica joined Switzerland and Japan as one of just three nations yet to concede a goal at Australia & New Zealand 2023.

Legendary Brazil forward Marta started and was aiming to become the first player – either male or female – to score in six World Cups but her night, and possibly her Women’s World Cup career, ended in the 81st minute as Jamaica survived a few nervy final moments to secure their place in history.

Another surprise. History shall be REWRITTEN. A big congratulation to Jamaica. My day has been all happiness.

  • Lord ah Mercy!!!! Here me say Kpuyakah! Nuf respect gals. Wata Hwan?
The Raggae gals have raised hope too.
Just like The super Falcons, they have Administrative issues. There owns is even worse as their Female football was once canceled and they were not even on FIFA rankings because of their FA (no funds for female football).
There funds to the World Cup were raised by some individuals including Bob And Rita Marley Foundation.
Their weapon like Super Falcons is their defense. You can’t brake them easily.
I wish Moroccans can surprise us too.

Ya man… me love you as Jah jah love him only son Jesus Christ!

  • I wish Jamaica meets Columbia rather than Germany because winner there would face most likely Nigeria rather than England (my heart is telling me so).

  • I want Japan out of this tournament. Dem no dey play at all. Others are like Australia to me.

  • Omo9ja 9 months ago

A big congratulations to Jamaica. Let the surprises continue kę.

It is not about the big name but prayer, dedication, and self-belief.

I hope Super Falcons players are watching. Thank God that this happens before the round of 16. It will multivate our ladies to go all out to nockout the English team.

I was laughing when I read some comments here on CSN about Nigeria vs. England match.

Most of the people did not want Falcons to play against England. We have to put that belief aside.

The more we beat big teams in this tournament, the more Africans/black race gets respect and more recognition, not even in sports alone but in general.

I pray we win that match. I want to see Ashley Plumptre reactions after the match.

The days of let reach semi final is gone. We are out there to compete with the best. Why are we afraid to beat the best teams?

Our ladies should have a lions heart like Payne. That lady is very bold, and we could see in her game. So, long story short, with the mercy of God, we are winning the English team convincingly on Monday.

I hope NFF AJĘWOMASAN “the debtor,” is seeing what the coach and his team are doing?

If I’m not mistaken, it is two years that coach Waldrum has been with the team, and we are seeing the result already.

This reminds me of Oga Rohr, who could not make it out of the group stage at the World Cup, and when I am talking about him now, his followers will get angry wotowoto like this kę lol. He just wasted 6 years for achieving just a bronze medal that we have collected for so many times with our made in Nigeria coach.

Thank God that we are meeting him soon. Then, his followers will see that having the caliber of players made it possible for Oga Rohr during his time with Nigeria.

Coach Waldrum has proven his worth, and he did not disappoint me as his number one fan. All eyes on Oga Rohr and his followers. Time will tell.

Super Falcons should keep fighting for more
success. The never say never Nigeria spirit
has a role to play in this tournament. Congratulations once again, Jamaica. Hmm. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Lol! You forgot to add your slogan “ I love oga Rohr but I have to say the truth “ Mr truth sayer, Waldrum isn’t Siasia and Amunike o! I hope you remember? He’s an American.

      • Omo9ja 9 months ago

Lol, I know you will talk @Sean ahaha. I love him but he wasn’t impressed me that much during his time and I decided to opt out kę.

This our Oga Waldrum hasn’t said my team is young so far in this championship. We have three fanterbulous goalies in this tournament, and they are all ready to go. You can boldly say we will beat England by God’s grace on Monday. That is what we call a coach.

Is Mr. Waldrum does not deserve to be praised @Sean ba? Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

What calibre of players did you have when you couldn’t qualify for ordinary AFCON 3 out of 4 times…? LMAOOooo

What calibre of players did you have when Tunisia B and the worst Ghana team in 50 years booted you out of both AFCON and WC within 4 months…..LMAOoo

Rohr, using the same players, qualified us for a world cup that Segun Odegbami said will take an underserved miracle to qualify us.

Rohr, using the same players, qualified us for a world cup and AFCON semifinals that Paul Le Guen said would be impossible.

That enough is as good as Randy Waldrum qualifying us for the R16 from a group of death.

Same players you claim he only succeeded with because he had their calibre where the ones that brought you heartbreaks, failures and left your NFF broke since last year…..LMAOoo. Stop doing drugs young man…!!!

The same Mr Waldrum you couldnt support till the end and turned your back against him midway, calling him all sorts of names just a few weeks ago, is now the one you are waxing lyrical about like a hungry canary….LMAOo.

Rohr already held a Senegal team that hammered Brazil with the “calibre of players” a country like Benin can muster….and if you are not careful can decided whether your super eagles will be a the 2026 world cup or not.

So better be careful what you wish for.

      Cheap double-mouthed sycophant…!

    • pompei 9 months ago

Omo9ja, but you used to condemn Waldrum before. You think say we don forget? You said he’s not a coach. He’s not tactically sound. Especially after the Afcon loss to Morocco. You said NFF should not have hired him. They should have hired a local coach.
But now that he’s getting results, you have jumped ship. Switching lanes like Vin Diesel in Fast and Furious.
You don change mouth sharp sharp.
You still dey on this Rohr issue. E fi baba yi le now?
Omo9ja, whether you gree or you no gree, Rohr was a success with Nigeria. His record speaks for itself.

      • Omo9ja 9 months ago

Mr. Pompei, my friend. I did not switch mouth. I said he should tend his resignation letter if he fails to make it out of the group with a scary squad he has. He was a bit shaky at first, and I think he is getting to know his players.

I don’t support the coach any how. Not because I am supporting him means I should not criticize him when needed.

Something that you Oga Rohr did not do during the Oga Rohr time. Good or bad, you people were just following him just like that wotowoto kę lol.

Are you people not enjoying what you are seeing at the women world cup with our Super Falcons so far? He shocked you people, ba?

I am not surprised because I am following the progress of Super Falcons very closely, and I know what the players are capable of doing. Up coach Waldrum, God bless us all. Ire o .God bless Nigeria!!!

        • pompei 9 months ago

Hahaha, Omo9ja, na you e shock. E shock you sotey you don change position.
That’s fine though. We all change our minds from time to time.
But you have to swallow your pride and give Rohr the credit he deserves. He made some mistakes. Yes. But for you to say Rohr was a failure with Nigeria? Mbanu, that one no go work.
Baba yen try fun wa. That’s the truth! Let’s give him credit abeg.

        • Papafem 9 months ago

Many of us on this platform are so emotional. We are never stable, changing loyalty as the weather in the camp of the girls changes. Hossanah today, crucify him tomorrow. We know them. Waldrum has decided to reply you all with those impossible results. Now, in a twinkle of an eye, he’s your Guoardiola at this WC. But if he loses on Monday, God forbid, you’ll call for his sack and call him names….Awon Ashewo fans. We know them. Does anyone notice how Dr Drey and Monkey Post have always defended Genot Rohr? Even when we all expressed our reservations and condemnation. That’s principle. Never shy away from away from what you believe in. There are some football fans here I’ll never take serious no matter what. And there are some you can’t resist admiring even if you don’t agree with them on certain issues.

Omo9ja has been that way since Keshi days. Fair weather fan of the highest order. Na our chief Zebrudaya be that. He makes this forum lively sha. If I’m in a bad mood once I read Omo9ja comment I go laugh sha ni. Especially when we have a not ok result Lmao!! Omo9ja nothing do you continue your chameleon life.

          • Dr. Drey 9 months ago

Hahahhhaha…AYP, You remember those days on KON right….LMAOoo. We used to have 3 of them, Omo9ja, Nkata Offor and Ugo Iwunze

This drunkard was always insulting Keshi….even when the man won the AFCON, he was calling for his sack, calling Keshi a “gather and play” coach who only own AFCON ‘by luck’ and would not qualify for the 2014 WC with his “patternless” football.

Thank God some of us were vocal in our support for them man.

Today, he’s one of those who will open his rotten teeth and want to eulogize the late Big Boss.

Who would believe stupidity can last for so many years.

          • Dr. Drey 9 months ago

Oh yea Sean. Kola US. I hope he is fine wherever he is now. He was such a strong backer of Keshi too then. Men of high principles who would say what they mean and mean what they say…not forgetting the likes Ken Ghadaffi of “the just shall live by faith” fame, and Deo with his characteristic interesting reads and nicknames he gave to players back then like the late earnest Okonkwo e.g Vincent Enyea-magnet, Ogenyi ‘angry wasp’ Onazi, Kenneth “2 by 2” Omeruo and so on….LMAOooo.

Beautiful days we had then, not like now where lots of wannabees and ignoramuses litter the whole place.

          • Dr. Drey 9 months ago

Kola US would brag back then about not setting his foot in Nigeria for 23 years (or was it 32 years)…..LMAOoo. I really found that absurd back then, but it was always interesting to read his own historical perspectives to matters arising….LMAOoo. Arch Enrmies with Nkata Offor he was then….LMAOooo.

AYP was keshi’s critic too back then until the SE visited the US in preparation for either the COnfed cup or the World cup, and he visited the SE camp, and Keshi bought him goat meat peppersoup…..LMAOOoo….afterwards, till Keshi got sacked, nobody dared talk ill of keshi on CSN then……LMAOoo…AYP was gonna barbecue that person……LMAOoo….indeed the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach…..LMAOoo. Whoever creted that adage surely had AYP in mind…..LMAOoo

AY na joke oooo…!!! LMAOoo. I still want to see my children’s children……!!!

            Truly, E don Tey..!

    • Omo9ja 9 months ago

This is very funny, lol. You Oga Rohr followers are really angry with me, but why?

I know I have offended you all oga Rohr followers because we asked NFF to fire Oga Rohr. It was so sad, but he had to go kę.

Let’s support our football in a right way. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

      • Dr. Drey 9 months ago

Hahahaha…and after they listened to you and fired him, what was the end result? We got disgraced out of AFCON, got booted out of the World cup, dropped to 45th position on the FIFA rankings, lost $20m and have been broke ever since……LMAOOo.

That is the more reason why listening to you (and you gang of regressive thinkers) will spell doom for anyone.

You are simply a disaster in human form. 2 years after listening to you and the SE is yet to get its bearing…..LMAOoo

My head dey tell me say NFF don abandon the squad since and now shame no go let them form famzy for camp today. U don see their twitter videos lately? Na wetin falcons account first dish out them dey repost

  • MONKEY POST 9 months ago

LOL. FUNNY ENOUGH @SLY In NIGERIA if you’re ASKED to NAME the INSTITUTION that are MOSTLY CORRUPT,you will NPF(NIGERIA POLICE FORCE) NEPA/PHCN in that ORDER but right now NFF don take the CROWN…

  • Edoman 9 months ago

Omo9ja, why do you continually contradict yourself again and again in the public. You are old enough to separate the corn from the shaft by now. My advice to you is ‘follow who no road’ at this time.

  • Codex 9 months ago

Congrats to Jamaica RG whom I presume are the more refined version of Nigeria SF the similarities are obvious. A great coach once said that attack wins you games but defence wins you titles.

    • pompei 9 months ago

Well said Codex. That was Alex Ferguson. The only way to beat a team you can’t score against is via penalty kicks.
