I pray Ghana wins today asm gng to church I will pray for them just watch the last match between the two countries 12 years ago . I saw the way Gyan and the Ghanaians were crying like babies and am touched by their patriotism. This is what is lacking in Nigeria no way you will see Nigerian senior national team players crying because they lost a match. Ghanians hate failure that’s why they will continue to beat us

Well, I’ve seen Iwobi cried after Red Card and I’ve seen Balogun cried twice. Respect to Ghana but our players are human too.

Oh my.  Dede never looked confident taking that penalty and now Uruguay have the lead as a result of some amateurish defending by Amartey in particular.  Worse is Suarez played a part in the goal

Africa owes that referee a debt of gratitude for not awarding a penalty to Uruguay for Amartey’s elbow barge of the Uruguayan player inside the 18 yard box.

That penalty miss really set Ghana on the wrong note which they struggled to recover from.

The signs from that point to me were sadly ominous!

Hopefully Ghana can latch on to a second wind in the second half!

This is really not about how Partey is playing but the set up of Ghana for this match. This is a match where negative football would have suffice. Ghana should have choked the midfield (or pack the bus in the midfield) and look to kill Uruguay on the break with a deadly counter attack. I know Ghana has the player to do this in the person of Kudus. But why the coach decided to play an open game in a match like this where they need to draw beats my imagination.

          You are right.

Ghana needed a leaf from the playbook of either Gernot Rohr, Diego Simeone or Jose Mourinho for this one: ie Park the bus!

You should know that Ghana became too confident just because they defeated South Korea, not knowing that their world cup begins with Uruguay. You have not done anything until you beat the South Americans. Unfortunately, Ghana got carried away, and failed to see the danger posed by a desperate Uruguay. When they were making mouth about revenge and Uruguay not having a place to hide, I was like, these guys don’t know what is waiting for them. Now, see where they ended up. Dust up yourself, Ghana, and move on. You gave a good account of yourself. You played without fear or fever. It didn’t work out this time, but there’s a future to look forward to. Kudos guys. You are Ghana.

The referee has once again bailed Amartey out. Ghana are still in this. They look more coordinated than in the first half.

It is a bad tempered match due to the 2010 history between the two countries.

If Djiku can be worse compare to Amartey then he has no business in World Cup. In fact), Ekong na star where this people dey. Uruguay with Suarez come become Ghana’s Nemesis like Argentina with Messi to Nigeria. Don’t worry my Ghanaian people, this is his last World Cup.

Both teams ended up being losers.

Unfortunately, because the next world cup will only have 3 teams per group, the world will be deprived of this sort of nail-biting, fascinating and high octane final group stage games.

The good thing is Ghana and Nigeria should be among the 10 teams representing Africa in that tournament.

Congratulations Ghana, afterall you were not given a chance. 1 win 2 losses is not bad as Ghana team is constituted at the moment. This is not Kumasi stadium. We will rest a bit in this forum until world cup is over. @self-made, Yaw and others you have seen that Ghana has a long way to go not coming here constituting nuisance cos you qualified ahead of us. See you in coted’voire.

Hahahahahaha what an unfortunate situation lol.Just because Ghana managed to defeat South Koreans they were all shouting BTS lol and making mockery of the Koreans but i guess they forgot the popular adages which says “don’t hatch your eggs before they’re laid” and also “He who laughs last laughs the best” lol.. I guess the Koreans right now would be screaming “Ghana Must Go “ by now lol.Even the Bible says pride comes before fall. I hope they learn from this even though i never wish them well before now and i must say I’m the happiest man right now on earth and I’m so glad that they didn’t go pass the group stage .Try hard next time Ghanaro

Brazil will be happy with this result. They will prefer to play Korea than the unpredictable Uruguay. But they need to ensure they win their group first. A defeat to Cameroon, and Switzerland could leapfrog them to the top of the table.

What a game. How more funny could this be, Ghana were so desperate to kick Uruguans out of the world cup to avenge 2010 lost without deploying the right tactics. You’ve got good midfield so all you need to do is play to your strength and punish the Uruguans on the counter.

The Penalty lost has it own impact for sure, Amartey poor marking, Partey was also disappointing in this match. Despite how good he is, he just decide to sit back instead of joining the attack after the break since they need goals.

Kudus, that boy is a huge talent. He had a fantastic game. It will be a miracle if Ajax is able to keep him after the summer.

On a final note, i want to congratulate the Ghanians. They did well in this tournament but their best was just not enough.

The tactical flaws of Otto Addo and the Uruguayan coach were on full display today in this match.

First, the Uruguayan coach decided to take out his 2 most inform players Suarez and the scorer of their 2 goals hoping to kill off the game and believing that Portugal will not lose against Korea. Alas, Korea decided to prove that no team in this world cup should be discounted without first testing your might against them. That mistake is what a team like Brazil will not do. Even when a team is down and out, Brazil will make sure they completely snuff the life out of any team they are already defeating.

That being said. I want to focus on Ghana. I earlier said that Ghana is the weakest team from African ( this goes to show that Nigeria is even worse than the Ghanaian team). The reason for my conclusion is based on the tactically deficiency of Otto Addo. Otto Addo is the reason why Ghana is going out in the early stage of this world cup. His tactically reasoning cost them the match against Portugal. HIs decisions against Korea was almost costing Ghana. But most surprisingly and disappointingly, his formation and approach today against Uruguay killed Ghana.

In a match that Ghana needed a draw he came out to play an open game against a team that has Suarez, Cavani, and in dare need of a win. What is wrong in packing the bus, playing negative football, and frustrating Uruguay in the this match? After all, the end would have justified the means. But Otto Addo had other ideas – ideas that were not profitable for Ghana. Trust the North Africans, if they were in Ghana’s shoes, they would have killed this game and eke out the much needed draw with all their well acquired skills of frustrating opponents and killing off games.

Despite the disappointment of Ghana going out in the 1st round, I still give them kudos. They tried and will do better with a better coach. They are even better than Nigeria and our over bloated players and quack NFF who have no knowledge of the importance of participating in world cup.

Just like majority of Nigerian coaches needing to update their knowledge about modern day football, Otto Addo and other Ghanaian coaches needs to go and learn modern day football. The is no real difference between Eguavoen and Otto Addo!

I disagree. All the teams that have chosen to park the ball because they needed a draw in the last group game have either exited or were almost eliminated. Ecuador was much better than the game they played against Senegal, but the coach stupidly opted to be defensive. Poland would have given the Argies a better game if they had needed the win but chose to be conservative because they needed a draw, Addo should have lined up in his preferred 3-5-2 and try to control the midfield and utilize his pacy strikers.

I want to analyze your statement, “Addo should have lined up in his preferred 3-5-2 and try to control the midfield and utilize his pacy strikers.” Don’t you think playing 5-man midfield is the same as packing the midfield? I also think using pacy strikers with 5-man midfield is the same as playing counter attack while packing the midfield.

We have said the same thing but in different ways. I still believe it was tactical deficiency of Otto Addo that cost Ghana this match.

You watch and see how well drilled teams will pack the bus starting from the 2nd round.
