Valencia Returns To Ecuador

Antonio Valencia has returned to his native Ecuador with LDU Quito after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season. United opted against offering the 33-year-old an extension to his contract, which brought his decade-long stay at Old Trafford to an end.

The Ecuador international made a total of 339 appearances for United, scoring 25 goals and registering 62 assists, while he also won six major honours, including Premier League titles in 2011 and 2013. Since leaving United, Valencia has been representing his country at the Copa America, with it now confirmed he will be continuing his club career in his homeland with LDU Quito, who announced his arrival on social media.

LDU Quito are the reigning Ecuadorian Serie A champions, but they currently sit seventh in the standings at the midway point of this season. Valencia will be hoping to play his part in improving that standing during the second half of the campaign. The former Wigan ace looks set to wear the number 25 shirt during his time at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado.
