Madagascar Coach, Dupuis: ‘Job Not Done Yet; We’ve Nigeria To Think About’

Madagascar head coach Nicolas Dupuis is firmly focused on his side’s AFCON 2019 Group B fixture against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday at the Alexandria Stadium, reports Completesports.com.

The island nation defeated Burundi 1-0, courtesy of a fantastic 76th-minute free-kick converted by Marco Ilaimaharita in their second Group B game on Wednesday.

After seeing off the ‘tough’ challenge from Burundi, Dupuis says he is pleased with the team’s hard-fought victory as they inch closer to securing a spot in the last-16 round.

“I am so happy because of this victory. It was our first in the history of the Afcon and we worked hard for it,” Dupuis told reporters in Alexandria.

“It was not an easy match because Burundi gave us a tough time especially in the second half.

“But we can be proud of our efforts, we can be proud of what we achieved but the work is not yet over. We still have Nigeria to think about.”

Madagascar are second in Group B with four points after two matches, two points behind leaders Nigeria who are on six points. Guinea are third on one point, while Burundi are at the bottom without any point.

The Barea face the Super Eagles in their last group fixture in Alexandria on Saturday, from 5pm Nigerian time.

  • I like this man. Very simple language. No boasting here. Unlike others that will not respect Nigeria saying it is Eleven Eleven. Even if they don’t come out as second, they will come out third best.
