–Professional football was introduced in Nigeria in 1990, with the launch of the league now known as the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL). The non-Pro era lasted from 1972 to 1989.

–Enyimba FC are the most successful club in NPFL history, having won the league nine times, with titles spanning from 2001 to 2023.

–Seven clubs have won it more than once, notably Enyimba (9), Rangers Int'l (8), Shooting Stars (5), Heartland (5), Kano Pillars (4), Rivers United (4) and Bendel Insurance (2).

–Emeka Obioma of Enyimba (16 goals), Enyimba's Chijioke Mbaoma (17 goals) and Nasarawa United's Anas Yusuf (18 goals) respectively.

–Each club may register up to five foreign players, but only three may be named in a matchday squad. ECOWAS players are not classified as foreign.

–Yes. Each club may register up to five youth players, identifiable by jersey numbers 36–40. Players wearing unauthorised numbers are ineligible to play.

–Disputes relating to contracts, unpaid wages or breaches are resolved through NPFL arbitration and appeals mechanisms, in line with FIFA and NFF statutes.

–This includes doping, fraud, alcohol-related incapacity, serious breaches of contract, or conduct damaging to the club or league, and may lead to termination or sanctions.

–A club cannot register new players or coaches if it is in breach of an award or order relating to unpaid player entitlements, unless full compliance or a formal settlement is proven.

–Clubs may register up to two Elite Players—individuals deemed capable of adding exceptional value to the league. The NPFL may contribute financially to their remuneration.

–Players face suspension of up to one year, while clubs risk minimum fines of ₦1,000,000 and further disciplinary sanctions, according to the NPFL Framework 2023/2024.
