What time do Champions League matches kick off in Nigeria?
The competition runs through the European winter, when the continent keeps the same clock as Nigeria, so the two kick-off slots of 18:45 and 21:00 reach you at 18:45 and 21:00. Only the closing weeks in late spring fall after the clocks move, and those matches start an hour earlier here. Every time on this page is already in your own local time.
How does the league phase work?
Thirty-six clubs sit in one table rather than in groups of four. Each plays eight different opponents, four at home and four away, drawn by seeded pot rather than by group, so no two clubs play the same eight. That is why the table on this page is a single long list, and why a club can finish above another it never faced.
How do clubs reach the knockout rounds?
The top eight in the league phase go straight into the round of sixteen. Ninth to twenty-fourth enter a two-legged knockout playoff for the other eight places, with the higher-placed side at home in the second leg. Twenty-fifth and below are out of Europe altogether - there is no drop into the Europa League any more.
Do away goals still count double?
No. UEFA abolished the away-goals rule in 2021, so a tie level on aggregate after two legs goes to extra time and then penalties, whatever the split of goals home and away. It matters for betting more than people expect: a first-leg away goal no longer carries the extra weight the old markets priced into it.
How do clubs qualify for the Champions League?
Most places go to the highest finishers in each domestic league, and how many a country gets depends on its UEFA coefficient - the strongest leagues send four, smaller ones one or none directly. The winners of the previous Champions League and Europa League enter automatically, and two extra places go to the countries whose clubs did best in Europe the season before. The rest come through the summer qualifying rounds.

What should I check before backing a Champions League match?
Whether the tie is already decided. A club safely through rests players, and a club with nothing left to play for is a different side entirely. Check the domestic fixture either side of it, because managers rotate around European weeks in both directions, and read home and away records separately. Set your stake before you bet, use only money you can afford to lose, and never chase a losing bet.
