Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon has forcefully defended his team’s standing among Europe’s elite, insisting Hansi Flick’s side are not inferior to Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid despite back-to-back losses.
Barça’s impressive unbeaten run came to a halt with a 4–2 Champions League loss in Paris on October 20th, followed by a 2–1 home defeat to Madrid in El Clásico five days later, raising renewed questions about their performance in high-stakes encounters.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Gordon took full accountability for the results while maintaining that the squad possesses top-tier quality.
“I don’t think they’re above us,” Gordon stated. “We have to take responsibility for both losses… but I think we’re a fantastic team and on any given day we can beat anybody.”
He went on to explain that PSG held a significant physical advantage in their European meeting after resting their entire starting lineup domestically over the preceding weekend, leaving an overworked Barcelona side fatigued.
Regarding the Clásico defeat, which was sealed by a late Kylian Mbappé strike, Gordon expressed frustration at failing to capitalize on dominant play.

“For me, we were the much better team in the game. We had all the ball, all the possession, the better chances, but we were a slight bit off our best game and conceded two very bad goals,” he admitted.
Despite the recent setbacks, the winger remains confident in Barcelona’s trajectory as the season progresses. Acknowledging that minor errors against world-class opponents come at a high cost, Gordon declared that the team will learn from these experiences and is eager for future rematches to prove their true capabilities.
