Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has been hospitalized after collapsing during a training session with the club’s reserve team.
In an official statement, Bayern confirmed that the 40-year-old is currently undergoing thorough medical examinations and will remain under care.

“Vincent Kompany had to seek medical attention on Friday after collapsing during a training session with FC Bayern’s reserve team,” Bayern said on their website.
“Kompany is undergoing thorough examinations at the hospital and will remain under medical care.”
The health scare follows a recent bout of illness for the Belgian manager, who missed training and a pre-match press conference ahead of Bayern’s Champions League fixture against Arsenal. Reflecting on that absence following the Arsenal match, Kompany admitted: “I caught a pretty nasty virus last week, and of course I didn’t listen to my body — and then at some point my body just said, ‘enough is enough!’”
Addressing the situation on Friday, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl emphasized that the coach’s well-being remains the club’s immediate priority.

“We at FC Bayern will do everything we can to ensure he recovers quickly,” Eberl said.
“Vinnie is receiving all the necessary medical care and support, as well as all the time he needs. His coaching staff, whom we trust completely, will take over his duties.”
Kompany took charge of the Bundesliga giants in the summer of 2024, successfully reclaiming the German title in his debut campaign. In October 2025, he signed a two-year contract extension committing his future to the club through 2029.
