Villa Willing To Wait For Tuanzebe

Aston Villa remain keen to land Axel Tuanzebe this summer and will wait until Manchester United make a decision on the defender.

Tuanzebe spent last season on loan at Villa Park and established himself as a key man, with 28 Championship appearances, including the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 play-off final win over Derby as Villa secured promotion to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has now returned to parent club United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who took charge at Old Trafford while Tuanzebe was out on loan, is keen to take a closer look at the defender, who can operate at centre-half and at right-back.

Tuanzebe has one year left on his United deal and Villa are understood to be keen to sign him on a permanent deal during the current transfer window.

The Villans could also seek to sign Tuanzebe on loan but would reportedly insist on an option/obligation to buy as part of the deal, as United would be due compensation should the player leave next summer due to his age despite the fact he will fall out of contract.

United could yet opt to keep Tuanzebe but it is thought the Old Trafford outfit will be open to offers if they can bring in some of their own defensive targets over the next few weeks.
