Kongolo Emerges As Villa Target

Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Huddersfield defender Terence Kongolo but face competition. Kongolo looks certain to quit the John Smith’s Stadium this summer after the Terriers relegation and clubs are lining up to take a punt on the defender.

The Mail are reporting that Villa are among the 25-year-old’s suitors but Watford have also been linked with a swoop this summer. Villa boss Dean Smith is busy with his recruitment plans as he attempts to re-establish the West Midlanders as a permanent top-flight fixture, with Wesley Moraes, Anwar El-Ghazi and Jota already on board at Villa Park.

It seems as though the former Brentford chief is not done yet, with Kortney Hause penning a permanent deal from local rival Wolves and now Kongolo a reported target.

The Netherlands international moved to West Yorkshire on loan in the 2018 winter window before signing permanent terms last summer but his time with the relegated club is coming to an end. Kongolo is primarily a central defender but can also play at left-back, giving any manager options across the rearguard.
