Former Nigerian midfielder, Henry Nwosu has called on the Nigerian Football Federation to await the outcome of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations before deciding the fate of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.
The German tactician has come under heavy criticisms after nervy performance against Cape Verde, where Nigeria managed a 1-1 draw to qualify for the knockout stages of the qualifiers.
However, with just few weeks to the opening fixture of the bi-annual competition, the 1980 AFCON winner told Completesports.com that it would be a wrong timing for the NFF to sack Rohr.
“To be candid with you, I will tell you that sacking Rohr now may create more fuss in the Super Eagles than what we are seeing at the moment. The NFF must have to be careful in the handling of this issue so that it won’t have direct effect on the performance of the players at the tournament in Cameroon.
“If they (NFF) must have to nail him, then they should wait for the outcome of the Super Eagles performance at the Africa Cup of Nations. The fact that he struggled to qualify the team for the final knockout stages of the qualifier doesn’t make him a bad coach.”

Raw Talent will work for Lesser Opposition like CAR, Cape Verde and Lesotho but when you meet the teams in Round of 16 at AFCON or the Knock out in March. then we will need a little bit of tactics and it is clear in that department Rohr is a basket. Thanks Henry Nwosu, it is the way to go if there’s any sincerity of purpose and going by AFCON’s timetable. My advise for our ex footballers is that, they should come together and share their experiences with the Super Eagle’s coaching crew, visit them in their camp from the 28th of next month, this would go along way to assisting the lads having a better footing in Cameroon. Nothing will be too small especially remembering the fact that victory to the Super Eagles unite Nigerians in no immeasurable way. From Odegbami, Adepoju, Eguaveon, Kanu, Okocha, Finidi, Udeze, Ugbade, Aghahowa, Ikpeba and others, let’s form a unit of advisers for not just the AFCON but the WC-playoffs.

Sack the clueless coach and give us Nigerians even if it’s to test them at the Afcon… Amuneke/Manu/Finidi… think tank trio, then Enyeama/Ikeme as goal keeper trainers. Then get the Super Eagles a good physio, physical trainer who is trained professional physio and instill strict camp rules so we don’t continue to have sex parties… Lastly invite all top performing players this season including Okereke, Dessers, Joel, Simmy, Sadiq,CALVIN Ughelumba, Dennis, Bonke, Kingsley(if he beats his latest injury before mid December and starts complete training again) don’t favour any players or set of players as senior players and see us perform wonders at Afcon once team is picked on merit… on merit means Ahmed Musa, Shehu, Collins, Ekong have to me measured against alternatives to turn up at camp and if found surplus to needs cut loose… When you start using sentiments to pick team and looking at Uche face then failure has started… Why Rohr can’t succeed and muster anyyhing different than the hapless performances he is known for having is because the man lies to himself, comes with an easy-going demeanor but he is extremely stubborn and spiteful to players he does not favour… Bring those coaches mentioned above because they know our players already and know our brand of football and have been there and done that… I am not going to favour hiring any whiteman again because Cisse, Belmadi are doing it and they are not better than the Amuneke, Finidis, Manus of this world… I particularly don’t fancy Rohr anymore because he is not only fraud, quack and clueless… he is also naturally timid and not honest regarding sporting reasons first with his loyal players… Rohr was always in the habit of selecting and favoring players he has agency affiliation with… How do you explain Collins benching Zaidu or even Calvin Bassey(Raw Energy Clean Modern Leftback)? My fellow Nigerians and Super Eagles fans,let us be realistic, is Moses Simon, a player for the Super Eagles? His performance for the Super Eagles leave much to be desired.
I have watched him in the Super Eagles time and time again but don’t see what exactly he is playing for the national team.
A lot of people will come here and say he has the best assist in Europe, does that translates into great performances while in national team? No.
The quality of a good coach is a function of the kind of players he fields, the kind of tactics he deploys in games, the kind of substitutions he makes during play and his winning mentality.
I have critically studied this coach using the aforementioned parameters and he is found deficient in all.
His body language and utterances before, during and after matches are really unprofessional. Eg,after the last game, he said, the draw is like win to Nigeria.
I don’t know what he thinks of Nigerians, are we low in logical reasoning? No, not at all.
This set backs in our national team is still been supported by some Nigerian who are contented with mediocrity.
The Egyptian national team coach was fired during the qualifiers, they still qualified from the group as the best team. Why is Nigeria different???
I love all of these comment, but the question is why are you not dealing with national issues this way, so NFF can be professional, the problem in SE is national problem, there is big problem in Nigeria that signal entire body of the country into corruption, Clement whestehol was to be fired when the head of government put him back to continue his job then, he did little well cause the system was better than this system, other nations that are doing well in soccer and sport have good or better government than Nigeria, corruption in the government affects everyone over there plus soccer and every areas, until that is solved I’m not sure of what you are fighting for will make good success, so Rohr is not your problem.
