Lawrence Targeting Repeat Performance

Forward Michael Lawrence wants Huddersfield Giants to replicate their Magic Weekend performance when they head to Hull FC. Both clubs still have plenty to play for with three games remaining of the Super League campaign, although they are at different ends of the table. Huddersfield face a battle to retain their status while Hull, who currently sit fourth, are hoping to earn a spot in the season-ending play-offs.

The Giants claimed an emphatic 55-2 victory over Hull when they met last time out at Magic Weekend but Friday’s clash at the KCOM Stadium is likely to be a little tougher. The Airlie Birds have been hard to gauge this season and they head into the match off the back of three defeats in their last four games.

Lawrence believes that kind of form should offer hope for Huddersfield as they look to edge away from the bottom of the standings. “They’re obviously further up the table but they’re hot and cold,” Lawrence told League Weekly. “On their day they can beat anyone. On another day you can put a big score on them, as we found out at magic.

“That’s something we’re going to try and replicate. But we know it’s going to be a totally different kettle of fish going to their stadium, their home ground after a tough loss to Salford. “It’s going to be a massive game for both sets of teams.”
