Maguire Expects More Goals From Barnes

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire is confident Harvey Barnes will be on the score-sheet more often after breaking his PL duck.

Barnes, who was recalled from his loan spell at West Brom early in January, has been a regular first-team fixture in the second half of the season under former manager Claude Puel and the Frenchman’s successor Brendan Rodgers.

Having failed to find the back of the net in 12 league matches, the 21-year-old was dropped to the bench for Saturday’s 2-2 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium. The Englishman came off the bench to score a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser – his first strike in the top flight – and Maguire believes Barnes will score more from now until the end of the campaign.

“He has been brilliant since he came back. He has always looked a threat and been lively in every game,” he told the club’s official website. “He has missed quite a few chances and people may say he needs to improve on that but he is a young boy who has excellent talent. “Now the first has gone in I am sure he will back it up with many.”
