Walker Hoping For United Swansong

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has revealed he would “love” to end his career with boyhood club Sheffield United. Walker came through the youth ranks at Bramall Lane from 1997-2008 before being snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur in 2009, where he spent eight years and made over 180 league appearances.

The 29-year-old made the switch to City in July 2017 for a reported £50million, making him one of the most expensive defenders in history, and he has won six trophies during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola rates the England international highly and this was highlighted when the full-back signed a contract extension last month, extending his stay with the reigning Premier League champions until the summer of 2024.

However, although happy with life in Manchester, Walker has reiterated his desire to finish his career with the Blades, who are currently preparing for life back in England’s top flight.

Asked on Sky Sports if he wanted to finish his career at United, he said: “Yes, I’ve said to people that represent me that I would love to finish, If I could, at Sheffield United. “That’s where I started, that’s who gave me my chance in football. But, you never know, they might not want me.

We could be in different stages of career. But, Chris, if you want me, I’ll come back, soon.”
