10 Nigerian Footballers Who Could Join New Clubs This Summer

VICTOR OSIMHEN (NAPOLI)

The powerful forward is expected to leave Napoli this summer. The 25-year-old has a release clause of €130m in the contract he signed last December. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs linked with the Nigeria international.

WILFRED NDIDI (LEICESTER CITY)

Wilfred Ndidi will be a free agent at the end of next month. Leicester City has yet to open talks with him on a new deal. The defensive midfielder has already been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs.

He could also end up in the Premier League rejoinirejoining some other Nigerian footballers enjoying one of the biggest leagues in the world.

KELECHI IHEANACHO (LEICESTER CITY)

Like his Leicester City teammate Wilfred Ndidi, the forward will be a free agent at the end of June. Kelechi Iheanacho was reduced to a peripheral figure at the King Power Stadium after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria in February.

There is interest in the former Manchester City player in the Premier League, with the likes of Crystal Palace and Aston Villa reportedly keen. He is also wanted in Turkey by Trabzonspor.

WILLIAM TROOST-EKONG (PAOK SALONICA)

The experienced center-back still has two years remaining on his contract with Greek Super League champions PAOK Salonica but could be tempted by a move to lucrative Saudi Arabia. The 30-year-old was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

STANLEY NWABALI (CHIPPA UNITED)

Stanley Nwabali caught the eye with his impressive displays for the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Côte d’Ivoire.

The shot-stopper was linked with a move to Saudi club Al-Ettifaq and Sky Bet Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers during the AFCON. South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have also been credited with an interest in the goalkeeper.

CHIDERA EJUKE (CSKA MOSCOW)

The talented winger will run out his contract at Russian club CSKA Moscow this summer and is not likely to sign an extension. Chidera Ejuke spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Belgian Pro League outfit Royal Antwerp. They could be willing to sign him on a permanent basis after his impressive performances.

BRIGHT OSAYI-SAMUEL (FENERBAHCE)

The versatile defender was linked with a return to England last summer, but Fenerbahce managed to retain him. Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Everton are among the clubs interested in the former Queens Park Rangers player. With just one year left on his contract, a return to England is a possibility.

RAPHAEL ONYEDIKA (CLUB BRUGGE)

The defensive midfielder has shone for Belgian Pro League outfit Club Brugge this season. He has caught the eye with his impressive displays for the UEFA Europa Conference League semi-finalists.

RaphaelOnyedikaundoubtedly one of Nigerian footballers who impressed in the 2023/2024 season, has been linked with La Liga giants Barcelona and Premier League clubs.

TAIWO AWONIYI (NOTTINGHAM FOREST)

Nottingham Forest could be forced to sell the forward as they seek to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. The 26-year-old striker is a proven Premier League goal scorer and will not be short of suitors.

ELIJAH ADEBAYO (LUTON TOWN)

The tall forward is expected to leave relegated Luton Town this summer. Elijah Adebayo scored 10 goals in his maiden appearance in the English top flight. He has already been linked with a move to Sean Dyche’s Everton.
