The 2026/27 European football season is already gathering momentum, with players eager to make their mark and help their respective clubs achieve their objectives.
A number of Nigerian stars have already hit the ground running, grabbing the headlines with goals, assists and eye-catching performances in the opening weeks of the campaign.
Others are also expected to come to the fore as the season progresses, with several players looking to build on impressive outings from last term, while some will be aiming to make an impact at new clubs.

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)
Osimhen played a key role in Galatasaray’s successful title defence last season, registering 15 goals and five assists in 22 league appearances.
The 27-year-old has made a flying start to the new campaign, registering four goals and one assist in the Yellow-Reds’ opening two matches.
Following Mauro Icardi’s departure, Osimhen is expected to shoulder much of Galatasaray’s goal-scoring responsibility this season as they look to retain their domestic crown.
Ademola Lookman (Atletico Madrid)
The talented winger joined Atletico Madrid from Serie A side Atalanta during the second half of last season and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad.
The former Leicester City player made a significant impact, registering nine goals and four assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.
Lookman, who has now been handed the club’s No. 11 shirt, is expected to be one of the key players for Diego Simeone’s side in the 2026/27 season.
Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan)
Chukwueze returned to AC Milan this summer following a season-long loan spell at Fulham, where he registered three goals and four assists in 23 Premier League appearances.
The 27-year-old has impressed in a new wing-back role during pre-season, earning praise from head coach Ruben Amorim for his performances.

Chukwueze underlined his fine form with an eye-catching display in Milan’s 4-2 victory over Manchester United last weekend, contributing a goal and two assists.
Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor)
Onuachu enjoyed a prolific campaign for Trabzonspor last season, scoring 26 goals in 36 appearances across the Turkish Süper Lig and Turkish Cup.
The striker finished as the joint-top scorer in the league alongside Istanbul Başakşehir’s Eldor Shomurodov. He also played a key role in Trabzonspor’s Turkish Cup triumph, scoring twice in their 2-1 victory over Konyaspor in the final.
Onuachu will be determined to surpass last season’s impressive goal tally, especially following the arrival of former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah at Papara Park. Salah’s creativity and attacking quality could provide him with even more opportunities in front of goal this season.
Akor Adams (Venezia)
The 26-year-old joined newly promoted Serie A side Venezia last month in a club-record €23m deal.
Adams, who penned a four-year contract with the Winged Lions, is expected to play a key role in the club’s bid to establish itself in the Italian top flight.
The Nigerian striker has already made an impressive start to life at Venezia, scoring twice and providing an assist in a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Modena in the Coppa Italia.
Moses Usor (LASK)
Moses Usor could be set for a breakthrough campaign in Europe after establishing himself as a key figure for Austrian side LASK.
The winger played an important role in LASK’s domestic double last season, delivering a number of impressive performances for the Black and Whites.
Usor registered 15 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions, underlining his growing influence in the team.
The 24-year-old has carried that impressive form into the new season, already recording two goals and two assists in three league appearances for Dietmar Kühbauer’s side.
Maduka Okoye (Udinese)
Okoye has another opportunity to further establish himself as one of the most dependable goalkeepers in Serie A this season.
