2021 AFCON: Egypt Coach Queiroz Targets Win Against Super Eagles

2021 AFCON: Egypt Coach Queiroz Targets Win Against Super Eagles

Pharoahs of Egypt head coach Carlos Queiroz says his target against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, in their Group D 2021 AFCON opener is to secure all the three points.

The seven-time African champions will hope to replicate their Angola 2010 AFCON feat against the Eagles.

Under legendary coach Hassan Shehata, Egypt came from a goal down to defeat the Eagles 3-1 in their first group game.

They went on to secure their seventh AFCON title after pipping Ghana 1-0 in the final.

And ahead of next week Tuesday’s heavyweight encounter Queiroz, quoted on kingfut.com, said:”Our goal in the AFCON is to try to win every game, build a winning mentality because in March we will play the final stage of the qualifiers.

“I will only have four days before it. I know that Egypt has a great history in the AFCON, but our goal remains to qualify for the World Cup. I was not the one who set qualifying for the World Cup as the main goal for the team.

“FIFA put the Club World Cup at the same time as the AFCON, and this reflects on the importance of the qualifiers, which will take place by themselves in March.

“We have to play better than the team was 10 years ago. All the teams that we will face in the tournament are doing better now than they were in 2010. We’re not going to AFCON to take a walk, we are going to win.

“We need a winning mentality, when we win the first game we will want to win the next match and so on, this is our mentality. I want a stable, strong, and harmonious team that is able to go to the final stage of the qualifiers.”

Let me tell Nigerian soccer fans what is Iwobi problem, He needs to be benched in Nigeria so that better players like Nwakali and Aribo will take his place, then after that time, his eyes go clear. His problem is the first team that he enjoys whenever he comes back home. He’s overrated even when we know that the two aforementioned players are better than him. After AFCON If God helps Nigeria, get Oliseh, Madueke, Ejaria, Eze and Chukwuemeka of Aston Villa where do you think Iwobi will play. He won’t even make the squad. He’s the reason Nigeria is looking for creativity up till now. You can’t play for Everton, how can you play for a world Class National team in the class of Chelsea, Manchester United or Real Madrid like Nigeria’s Super Eagles. Let’s call a spade a spade and encourage the lad Iwobi to buckle up or else. Your guess is as good as mine.

    • Chief..I can agree with you if you say Aribo is better but Nwakali? That’s a big lie!
It’s better to be warming bench at Everton than Huesca.
Iwobi and Aribo are tested and trusted. Let’s see what Nwakali can do with national team before you bring that leg.

Eguavoen must constrain Egyptian key players like Mohammed Salah,Triziguet,Afsha; Eguavoen must play a pressing and combativeness match, don’t give Egyptian player any loophole and gab to pass through Eagles defensive lines.

Ali, na our own Super Eagles and coach we dey go watch for tv so. Jokes apart, with 11 in 11 out couples with the calibre of players selected, Egypt no reach. I see 2 zero.

  • What is the main news here is that the Pharos have a target .
They want to win all their matches and have publicly announce that.

So eagles be ware, you are up against a team who is out to win you.
call it confidence, call it psychological warfare, that is up to you, but I must confess, I love that open display of confidence.
