2021 AFCON Qualifier: Ebuehi Defends Rohr’s Decision To Bench Him

2021 AFCON Qualifier: Ebuehi Defends Rohr’s Decision To Bench Him

Super Eagles defender, Tyronne Ebuehi has revealed that he can’t question the decision of Gernot Rohr to bench him during last Saturday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin.

Recall that the Super Eagles defeated Benin 1-0 to break their 8-year unbeaten home record and also book a ticket to the bi-annual tournament slated for Cameroon.

Speaking in an interview with a Lagos-based radio station ahead of the game against Lesotho on Tuesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Ebuehi stated that he’s more delighted to be part of the senior national team.

“I am always confident in myself. I think everybody wants to play but at the end of the day the coach makes a decision and we as players have to respect it.

“But if I play I will be happy, if I have to sit on the bench I will equally be happy because like I said it’s already an honor to be here with the team.”

@Steve Osuoha… walahi, if Rohr play this guy for RB, nobody go smell that jersey again. Ebuehi is an extremely intelligent and technical player with insane confidence. Nigeria and Super Eagles are spoilt for choice of dependable personnel. Coach Rohr has done a good job getting us ample quality squad members… may Coach Rohr wax even stronger and leave a decent legacy just like Westerhoff. One love…

      • Pls can someone prove to me that this is @JIMMYBALL talking?

Is it that i’m missing something???

        I’m still pondering over it…

  • My favourite Eagle! I hope Rohr plays you in tomorrow’s dead rubber game against a very lightweight Lesotho.

Good talk, but Rohr the guy has seen a lot of bench role. Please let him start tomorrow, we need to see his sweet moves again.

We have missed this in the SE for a while now….Lol.
Rohr is helping NFF and Sports ministry save a lot of money.

    • @Dr. Drey

honestly speaking…. This is exactly what we use to suffer…. LOL

Rohr deserve respect from our sport ministry even though we know they’re not happy bcos they (NFF) use to get something from that promises too….

NEVERTHELESS I’M STILL WAITING PATIENTLY FOR OUR EX TO COME OUT AND SAY SOMETHING….

      Lol

    • That’s very correct @Drey, just imagine South Africa could not qualify, even with their highly rated south african league

    • Dr Banks 3 years ago

@Dr Drey, you remind me of our modus operandi in those years, $10k for each goal scored, LMOA.
Truly speaking, whoever does not see what Rohr has brought into our dear SE is really an enemy of progress

Tyronne Ebuehi us the most undervalued Super Eagle.Gernot Rohr takes advantage of this guy’s polished character to leave him on the bench. Very unfair!!

Playing for a modest team in the Dutch league is the reason Ebuehi has been overlooked.I wish he hadn’t the injury that kept him from playing football for a longtime at Benfica.
Apparently, playing regular football for Benfica would have made him a starter for the super eagles.
The super eagles of today has quality and the league you play for matters and if you play outside the top 5 European league then you must play for some of the best team in the league you ply your trade.
It’s a standard Rohr has used to make players ambitious which also has helped to improve the team.
