Former Nigerian defender, Ifeanyi Udeze has called on Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to allow Kelechi Iheanacho to spearhead the team’s attack against Benin and Lesotho in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Udeze stated this during an interview with ESPN, where said that Iheanacho’s brilliant goal-scoring form for Leicester City in the Premier League and most recently his brace against Man United in the FA Cup last week, is an indication that the former Golden Eaglets star must spearhead the attack ahead of Osimhen.
Recall that Osimhen has been in and out for a while due to injuries and COVID-19, which has slow down the pace of his game.
However, the former West Bromwich Albion defender stated that he’s convinced that Iheanacho deserves to start ahead of Osimhen, should Rohr decide to go with only one striker in Porto Novo.
“I think Iheanacho should lead the team in our next two games because he has been playing and scoring for his club side lately, and I believe he will score again for us,” Udeze said.

Iheanacho has been brilliant but I think osimehn should start then senior man can come in to wither replace him or pair with him, depending on how the match goes
They should start together the same way Vardy starts with Iheanacho. This is where Iheanacho would devastating.
You guys need to be serious and stop this nonsense about iheanacho spearheading our attack in Benin, african soccer is not premier league ooo, u need stamina, speed and little height to face these african born crushes defenders, Benin has not lost at home in eight year 22 games unbeaten trust me folks is not a fluke, we shouldn’t underestimate the squirrels, enough said.
Sunnyb Kelechi don deliver against African teams before na, he is very capable abeg. I will like a partner of the two besides in training Kelechi is inform scoring a brace for his team to down team Osimhen by two goals to one.
I expect rohr to be a bit defensive in the game against benin. He may play defensively by using a back 3 while choking the midfield and using wingbacks with probably one top striker in order to secure the needed points. Then in the last match he can try any tactics he likes as long he is sure that the qualification is in the bag. Anyone can lead the attack in the next match, lets just make sure that other players will PLAY to their strengths.
EXPECT A SIMILAR OF THIS ON SATURDAY….
A 3-4-1-2 formation would do us a great favor in that IWOBI, NACHO, OSIMHEN will be on the pitch…
Okoye
AWAZIEM/AJAYI-EKONG-BALOGUN
EBUEHI/OLA-NDIDI-ETEBO-SANUSI
IWOBI
NACHO-OSIMHEN
HT: BENIN 0-1 NIGERIA
AT;
70′ SHEHU can come in for ETEBO.
75′ ARIBO for IWOBI….
(WITH THIS 2 SUBS, THE MIDFIELD IS CLOSED WHICH TURN THE FORMATION TO 3-5-2)
78′ ONUACHU for OSIMHEN.
82′ HENRY for NACHO…
FT: BENIN 0-2 NIGERIA
SCORERS: (OSIMHEN 32′, ONUACHU 87′).
ASSIST: IWOBI 32′ & SANUSI 87’…..
With this formation, no matter how physical the Benin players are our young able boys will cage them and play them sexy football due to the combination of IWOBI & “SENIOR MAN” partnership…
MY OPINION THOUGH WHICH MAY NOT NECESSARILLY MATERIALISE…. AFTER ALL THE COACH HAS THE FINAL SAY AND WHO’S ME TO REVOLT?….
:::::SHALOM:::::
Most coaches will field this lineup.
Okoye
Aina ekong balogun sanusi
Ndidi Aribo
Chukwueze iheanacho iwobi
Osimehen
In as much as iheanacho is in the form of his career,of late, i go for osimhen to spear head the attack of the super eagles when we tackle squirrel of benin republic due the kind of player osimhen is. But i still believe there is another option if we pair the both strikers in a 3 5 2 formation against benin that will be a very devastating kind of attack for the benin defenders. The best possible line up i think will get us the maximum point is as follow.
Defenders:AJAYI, EKONG, BALOGUN
Midfielders:NDIDI, ARIBO, and ALEX IWOBI playing the number ten role.
Wing backs: SANUSI, CHUKWUEZE
Fowards:
OSIMHEN, IHEANACHO.
For me, Iheanancho should start ahead of Victor
