2021 AFCON Qualifiers: No Interference From NFF In Rohr’s 24-Man Final List – Eguavoen

2021 AFCON Qualifiers: No Interference From NFF In Rohr’s 24-Man Final List – Eguavoen

Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Austin Eguavoen has revealed that Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr was solely responsible for the 24-man list that was released for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

The 1994 AFCON winner stated this in an interview with Supersports’ Monday Night Football Show, where he said that the Technical Department doesn’t interfere in the affairs of the German tactician.

He also revealed that they (NFF) have a cordial relationship with Rohr and are optimistic that the Super Eagles will qualifier for the bi-annual tournament.

“As the head of the technical department, we can’t vet the list of the Super Eagles released by Gernot Rohr. Doing so is like interfering with his managerial affairs. Rohr is the sole responsible for the list that was released for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“However, I have a cordial relationship with Rohr. I am very optimistic that we can finish top of Group L of the AFCON qualifiers. Confidence wise we are good to get the points. I think Rohr is on the right track to moving the game of football forward in Nigeria. Mind you, we are top of the group as I said and I know we will qualify.”
