Maths knowledge dey worry CS. How can 24 teams emerge from 28 teams in the preliminary round? Please correct yourselves. 14 teams will emerge from the prelims to join the 26 higher ranked teams for the group stage of 10 groups of 4 teams. The 10 group winners would engage in a home & away play-off that would produce the 5 representatives.

    • My question is when was d last time Nigeria qualify for d world cup whenever this type of model was or is used to get d finalis to or represent Africa . Answer it has never happened. Nigeria always qualify whenever group stages are used exemption being 2006.prior to 1994 it has been a debacle hangin on red eagle devil .green eagles even the early super eagles wen thismodel was in use.now dat even madagas car can chance eagles at away or neutral ground .wat wil happen with team like Egypt Cameroon benin Ghana Algeria against eagles in a two legged game? It is a question.

      • I remember 78 the game against Tunisia in lagos @olu. Again 82 a game against Algeria in lagos @olu. I remember 86 same against Tunisia oo.in tunis. @olu I remember 90 against Cameroon. @olu. Danger signal all this are home and away leg o.

We beat Ethiopia home and away in the qualifiers for 2014 WorldCup. So it hasn’t happened before because in your mind you’re already prophesying doom. Don’t worry you will be disappointed this time by Gods grace.

You are a good student of history @AY, SE qualified for 2014 WC in brazil with this same model, beating Ethiopia 1:2 Away in Addis and beating the same team 2:0 in calabar. That thunderous free kick from Obinna nsofor is still fresh in my memory. SE stand a very good chance to qualify irrespective of any team they play. The last time SE lost a world cup qualifying game was sometimes in august 2004 against angola in Luanda.

          • Only Ethiopia. Any other one.

        • So day means it is only d points model dat is good to go for eagles

We cannot play Algeria or Senegal as it would be based on ranking. Bros, it still suprises me that you mention Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana etc when we saw how useless they were at the AFCON. Na wa for you ooo. Nigeria are clearly better. The only teams i regard are the 2 that played in the final. Nobody, should bring up Madagascar as that was clearly a mistake that cannot happen again. A beg Guy, be real.

        • OK thanks home advantage. I’m thinking far ahead on d last stage 2legged game to qualify

Rather 14 teams from the preliminary stages will join the 26 top ranked teams in the African qualification.

  • @Olu go and research well bro, this format was used during 2014 world cup qualifiers. I could remember Nigeria toped group F containing Malawi, Kenya and Namibia before playing a two lagged third round game against Ethiopia which ended 4-1 on aggregate

    • Ok I pray eagles meet Ethiopia. Again

@Olu Algeria or Senegal may not be as strong as they were in Egypt by next year or beyond.Algeria wasn’t a great team two years ago.
Things can change quickly in football and a lot of factors leads to this.A bad team in Egypt may be a good team in a few months so be careful what you wish yourself ha.

      You are right.

  • Well Olympic football qualifiers is knocking on d door . But Nigeria is likely to miss out be cause of away goal rule . Prophet have spoken. .Wat can be done to avert dis looming danger. Just like Wat happened proir to London Olympics when the boys were not released by their clubs in Europe and d coach den have a depleted team to prosecute the game.
