2022 U-20 WAFU Zone B: Ghana Coach Blames Bad Weather For Defeat To Flying Eagles

2022 U-20 WAFU Zone B: Ghana Coach Blames Bad Weather For Defeat To Flying Eagles

Karim Zito the head coach of Ghana U-20 men’s team, Black Satellites, has attributed his team’s defeat to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria to bad weather.

Ghana got their 2022 WAFU Zone B qualifiers in Niger Republic, off to a poor start after losing 2-0 to the Flying Eagles in their Group B opener on Sunday.

A goal in each half from Aminu Muhammad and Ahmed Abdullahi, sealed the win for Ladan Bosso’s men.

Muhammad broke the deadlock in the 5th minute after running on to a through pass, rounded the keeper before firing into the net.

And in the 78th minute, Abdullahi doubled their lead as he went past a couple of Ghanaian markers before hitting a superb volley into the net.

And speaking after the defeat, Zito posited that his players could not perform to their best as they struggled to cope with the weather.

However, Zito praised the Flying Eagles for arriving Niger Republic early and played some friendly games which contributed to their win against Ghana.

“There were some factors that affected us, one of them is the weather,” Zito said on Brila FM.

“Look at the atmosphere here, what is happening here and in Ghana, here it is hell. That is why I commended Nigeria by coming early and playing some friendly matches.

“For you to acquire the necessary energy you need to do what you have to do, so we will use the Nigerian game to prepare ourselves for our next game against Burkina Faso. We are going to use the next match to make amendments.

“Before coming to Niger in Ghana we all so the players they were very mobile but they couldn’t run here which was down to the issue of the climate because there are factors that affect performance and one of it is weather.”

Zito, who led Ghana to win the 2020 WAFU Zone B tournament in Benin Republic, will hope to bounce back when they take on Burkina Faso in their next Group B game.

Two teams will advance into the semi-finals from each group, with the two finalists qualifying to represent the WAFU Zone B at the 2023 U-20 AFCON in Egypt.

The 2023 U-20 AFCON will serve as the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 World Cup billed for Indonesia also to hold next year.

All four semi-finalists from the tournament in Egypt will qualify to represent Africa in Indonesia.

Apart from the weather, there were other reasons:
    1) The Ghana players had generous amounts of Kenkey shortly before the game. It made them heavy and tired.
    2) Their jersey was too tight.
    3) Their boots was not the right fit. Too big or too small.
    4) Some players had no shin pad. So they were afraid on the pitch.
    5) The players missed their mums so much. Many of them have never been away from their mum for so long. So, they were depressed.
    6) The stadium was not the right size. Too big for some players, too small for others.
    7) The crowd was not the right size. Too big for some, too small for others.
There are numerous other excuses, but Coach Zito is having issues remembering them.
Please let us epp him to remember more excuses.

Oga pompei you caused me to be sprawling on the floor! Chei! There’s no way that any condition would be fine for these Ghanaians.

LMAO and the Weather affected their Juju clowns!

  • Excuse upon excuse. Ghana Satellites were comprehensively beaten by the Flying Eagles yesterday. They boasted they were going to beat Eagles before the match; they never made excuses of weather or “over-aged” players.

Cometh the game and their players had no clue in all departments of the games as FE outclassed and overwhelmed them throughout the game. Now they want 100 fake reasons why they lost!

Ghana dark stars didn’t defeat Super Eagles of Nigeria self. 0:0 in Kumasi and 1:1 in Abuja. If not for away goal. Na penalty will end it. Any day super eagles catch black stars. Na 4:0 go end am.

Ghana and their excuses . This time they didn’t play in Nigeria but in Niger. So why the excuse. They lost the match and should now settle for the next one instead of blaming the weather . The Flying Eagles won because they had to take their chances . All this excuses in the name of rivalry , in fact I’m disappointed.

I recall all the nonesense talk that Ghana said as regards this match and that they said that they will defeat Nigeria again just as they did during the world cup qualifier.
What they need to understand is this they never beat Nigeria . It was a draw home and away and based on the rules of the game , the team that gains a point first via draws automatically qualified for the world cup. Period . Its simple logic . But of course they would argue over this matter and say that they won Nigeria square. The game of football have evolved tremendously as every team from different nations whether big or small have reawakened. So no more minors. No more believe that a team can easily beat another 12-0
Everything have evolved . So also should Ghana evolve in their approach to the game. I saw the way they behaves against Comoros at the AfCon and it was disgraceful . The way they acted against super Eagles shows that they have a lot of work to do.

Were you not the one who said that you had more time to prepare your boys and as such will beat Nigeria,it’s a shame that a team assembled in 3 weeks was able to beat your team which means
    1. You’re not a good coach cos if you’re then you would have made good of the time you spent with your team.
    2. You underestimated the FE and boasted which is unethical, unprofessional etc.Now you’re making excuses oga U Need prayers.

  • That is why I hate these Stupid ghanaians. So the stupid coach claimed that Nigeria won the match because they arrived early to Niger. He’s an idiot for saying that, why can’t you accept defeat and wait for your time. OLOSI
