2022 WAFU B U-17 Tourney: ‘Main Reason We Lost To Nigeria’ —Ghana Coach

2022 WAFU B U-17 Tourney: ‘Main Reason We Lost To Nigeria’ —Ghana Coach

Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has explained the main reason his team lost to the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria in their opening Group A game at the WAFU B U-17 tournament.

The Black Starlets lost 4-2 to the Eaglets inside the Cape Coast Stadium in the opening game of the regional tournament.

Fabin was forced to form a new team just two weeks before the tournament because 20 of the 28 players he assembled failed an MRI test.

Fabin’s new team were humbled by Nigeria, putting them in a difficult position to advance to the next stage of the competition.

“I don’t like to make excuses but about three weeks to the tournament the FA President [Kurt Okraku] asked the CAF medical team to do an MRI of our boys so out of 28, 20 were disqualified so, so we had to use about 2 and half weeks to build this team, we lost but I believe we’ll come back stronger,” Fabin was quoted on ghanasoccernet.com.

Ghana must win their final game against Togo to stand a chance of progressing from the group.

The WAFU B tournament is the qualifiers for the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.

Also, the U-17 AFCON will serve as qualifier for next year’s FIFA World Cup holding in Peru.

  • Dubious ghanaians. can you imagine, they presented 20 overage players.

I always say that ghanaians have no shame. Instead of him to hide his face in shame he was saying it in front of press.

    Foolishness of highest order.

God bless Nigeria coaching crew that did the right things from the beginning.

    God bless Nigeria.

    • Very wicked and dubious ghanaians. 20 overage players out of 28. I’m sure the if CAF officials check further some of the remaining 8 would still failed the the test.

        hehehe

        U dumb as rock lol

        • You should be quiet. 20 out of 28. You no even get any shame. You a here blabbing. I am sure you will blame your FA President for asking CAF to conduct MRI Test even though it is a requirement.

Same as Nigeria team MRI did same

It is high time countries started doing their screening long before the commencement of the competition to avoid excuses like this.

    • Who told them to present overage players?
Nigeria coaching crew told the boys to come to camp with their birthday certificates and didn’t stop there. The coach still caŕried out all rhe necessary test on the boys to ensure non of them lied.
Ghanaian coach thought he could beat the MRI.
He is now giving funny excuse instead of him to hide his face in shame.

  • Somebody should tell him to keep quiet, we suffer the same fate but Nigeria manage their own by conducting the same test earlier which cost us about 70% of the main team. As a coach of the team that has age clause, and has suffered the same problem in the time past, you should know that the compulsory MRI scan should not be taken with kid’s gloves. Beg Charlie go sit down.

Ghanaians never heard of MRI up until 3 weeks ago? Are they illiterates in the Ghana FA? Unbelievable excuses!!!

    • Selfmade KING 2 years ago

Of course why will we? The mri was introduced by fifa  because of NIGERIA AND MALI hahaa

We don’t cheat so we don’t need mri!!

      BOKOM cheats everyday

      Hahahaha

U spot on with this  PUNK bitch lol

      • You should be named Selfmade mumu imbecile for this ignorant comment. Ghanaians don’t know anything until it bites them in the ass and then they are forced to learn from it.

Ole, mumu, corrupted Ghanaians, always claim innocent

  • Igbralph 2 years ago

Ghana was just trying to cheat their way that is why they kept close eye on the MRI thinking they won’t be caught.

I don’t understand what all you fools are saying about Ghana . It was the Ghana FA president who asked for the MRI for fairness so Ghana did an internal audit can you say the same thing about your mumu Nigerian FA? Let’s do MRI on your players to see if a player will be left in your overage Nigeria team!

    • Adeyemi 2 years ago

Are you tired of hearing, or just a lazy mumu that cannot read? Nigeria FA conducted MRI test a while back and some of our players were knocked out. You didn’t see us making excuses. It’s part of the job. Next time, present your players early period.

      • Manson 2 years ago

Yeah you are right, no excuses congratulations to Nigeria for making right decisions at the right time.

What is the reason why the super falcons knocked Ghana out a few months ago? What is also the reason why the super falcons has beaten Ghana up to 8 times on their way to winning the women AFCON a record 11 times?

Na wa o! Excuses! Excuses!! Excuses!!! The U20 coach blamed hot weather in Niger as the reason for his team loss to Nigeria and now u17 blamed MRI as the reason for his team loss to Nigeria. Maybe we going to have reason(s) if the senior team happens to have an early exit. We are waiting.

    • Ralph 2 years ago

Sorry bro, what you talking about? MRI was introduced in African youth team since 2009 and it’s been in use since then, so why are you talking as if the Ghana FA is doing a new thing?.
MRI is a requirement, and it has to be done the very first day the invited players reports to camp, so if you are only doing it 2 weeks before a tournament that means you are planning to cheer, and that’s your problem, so deal with it.

Do you even know that this same coach gave an interview about the same MRI in 2018?  Yes he did, look it up on Google. He said MRI was behind Ghana inability to win youth cups, look it up and come back.

And that “selfmade king guy” should look it up too before he come here and start embarrassing himself.

This is the 4th time this guy is handling the Ghanaian U17 teams so he knew all about MRI

We still going to the finals and I hope u do too so that we ll beat u as usual!! Ghana beating Nigeria is no news lol
