2022 WCQ: Black Stars To Start Training In Kumasi on Tuesday

Black Stars will start training in Kumasi on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, for the first leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Nigeria, according to ghanasoccernet.com.

The team will arrive in the capital of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday and will commence training immediately.

Players are expected to start arriving this weekend after playing for their respective clubs. By Monday evening, Black Stars should have a full house.

Ghanaians have no idea which players have been invited by the Black Stars technical team headed by Otto Addo with the Ghana Football Association defending the shocking decision.

However, the invited players have assured Otto Addo of their availability and should be present when training officially commence on Tuesday.

They will train for three days with Otto Addo and his team including Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, George Boateng and technical advisor Chris Hughton.

Black Stars have certainly been boosted by the announcement of Baba Yara Stadium for the first leg after the Cape Coast Stadium was rejected by CAF owing to the badly damaged pitch.

The last time the stadium hosted a similar high-profile match was in 2013 during qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Black Stars whitewashed Egypt 6-1 in the first leg of playoff and lost the second leg 2-1.

  • Chai! See the way these people hide their list. They don’t want SE coaching crew to analyse individual players and strategize on how to neutralize them. Of course, GFA has sent invitations and players will start arriving. They’re just trying to hide it from Nigeria, thinking the secrecy would give them an edge.

  • Mtchew, Nigeria is going to win regardless, didn’t arsenal have a half a season to analyze the Liverpool team but what will happen will occur

They should continue holding the list and I pray they should not release it. This action is borne out of fear of defeat. Their Technical crew is showing that they are baby coaches. Ghana 1 vs Nigeria 3 (Baba yara )and in Abuja (Nigeria 4 vs Ghana )

U ll cry that day lol

      • You show too much courage in your Ghana team even though you guys are 61 in the world and we are 34, even your shining young defender mumin Abdul saw he couldn’t get to Nigeria’s team that’s why he settled for Ghana. Even aiyegun tosin who has 3 goals and three assists in 15 games couldn’t make it to Nigeria team and just settled for Benin republic. Your deadliest striker had a goal in 24 games. That’s some nerves you have even though it’s almost certain Nigeria will win you still brag here that Ghana will win ok o, @selfmaid it’s just next week keep cool if Ghana win heaven won’t fall same if Nigeria wins but it’s just a pity that Ghana will tend to cheat sorry to those feel offended

  • The GFA has defended their decision not to make the squad public, saying it is a technical decision backed by the Black Stars management committee and to avoid social media abuse targeted at the players.

“It is a technical decision backed by management, and it is a well-thought-out and purely strategic move,” GFA communications director Henry Asante Twum said as quoted by the Ghanaian Times.

“They felt it’s a way of controlling or minimizing the abuse that normally takes place before games, especially on social media. Sometimes, the public abuse gets to the players and affects their mentality,” he added.

  • Coach Otto Addo is expecting a full house by the close of business on Monday night as the team prepares ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoff against Nigeria.

Ghana host Nigeria in a two-legged encounter for a place among the five teams to represent Africa at the Qatar World Cup.

Players invited for the clash have received their air tickets and will be arriving in the country from Saturday night, GHANAsoccernet.com has gathered.

Despite the Ghana FA strategy not to release the squad in time for the game, GHANAsoccernet.com has gathered that the squad will be dominated by players to have featured in the 2021 AFCON and some debutants.

Ghana will open camp on Monday March 21, 2022 with the team expected to train in Accra before flying out to Kumasi.

The four-time AFCON champions will continue with preparations in Kumasi on Tuesday.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium will host the crucial encounter on March 25 at 6pm.

The Stadium has been given a one-match approval to host the 2022 World Cup playoff first leg.

  • So Ghana was this scared that they had to resort to secretive and underhand tactics to try to gain an illusionary advantage. We shall me on Friday.

Never in my years of following international soccer have I encountered this crude tactic of withholding the players list. But then they will draw up plans to counter our players. Talk of cheating, fear, and demented men without BALLS deceiving themselves.
