2022 WCQ: Eagles Would Do A Good Work On Liberia – Rohr

Gernot Rohr has expressed confidence that the calibre of Super Eagles players currently in camp, will do a good work on Liberia in Friday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The Eagles will kick-off their qualification journey for next year’s World Cup in Qatar when they host the Lone Stars.

Aside Liberia, the three-time African champions will also face Cape Verde and Central Africa Republic in Group C for the sole ticket into the play-off.

And speaking in a short interview with media officer of the Eagles Babafemi Raji from their Eko Hotel Lagos camp,  Rohr expressed optimism that his players will be ready for the clash.

“Concerning the shape of the players, we judge based on the games at their clubs,” the German coach said. “We monitored some of them this weekend and most of them did well in their clubs, some could not play so much, there was red card for Osimhen and we have small injuries but not serious.

“So the group we have will be able to do a good work and be ready for this very important match of this World Cup qualifiers on Friday.”

On how the first training session went, he said:”The light workout was okay. We had players who travelled, played games and are a bit tired so we wanted to do something fun with good football technique so we have the new balls from FIFA which is a little bit different since had to feel the balls.

“The session was to start in the gym then we had to go out and continue with the exercise.”

Meanwhile, latest update has it that 25 players are now in camp.

  • A perfect lineup to thrash any African team. (3-1-4-2)

    ————–Uzoho——-

    Ekong — Balogun — Awaziem

    ——— Ndidi ——

    Ebuehi— Aribo— Iwobi—- Aina

    —- Moffi —- Osimehen —-

  • Ekong,Balogun,Ebuehi,Aina,Awaziem all defenders hmmmmn see world class coach line up siooo..

    • Ebuehi & Aina are offensive and attacking minded wingback players also they’re good markers.

Nice line up, Ayo. These present SE are tough to beat when they play a formation like this. 3 center backs, two flying wing backs, a solid DM, 2 mobile AMs, and the Moffi-Osimhen combo is an exciting choice in the attack.
    I also like a 4-4-2:
    Uzoho/Okoye
    Aina, Ekong, Balogun, Sanusi
    Aribo, Ndidi, Iwobi, Ejuke
    Moffi, Osimhen
This line up is all about attacking football and goals. Watch out for the wingers Ejuke and Aribo! Ndidi will protect the back four, while Iwobinho will be the link-up man in the midfield.

Can Aribo play from flank, has he played that position anywhere before? Your formation is good buh one of this 3 has to be on bench (Iwobi, Aribo, moffi)

Yes Jide, Aribo is very good on both wings. Right or left. Gerrard uses him a lot on the wings, especially the right wing. He can also play as an AM, and once, he played as a left wing back and did really well. The boy is a utility player. But he performs best on the wings, in my opinion.
How he will cope with our poor pitches is another matter. Aribo’s sub-par performance in our last home games is down to pitch quality.
As for Moffi, he has to contend with Onuachu and Iheanacho. I just feel he is more of a goal threat than the other two. But then, an in-form Iheanacho is very tough to bench! Let’s see how it goes.

Moffi for sure on the bench of course, since he’s on the standby list.

    Okoye-Aina,Balogun,William Troost,Sanusi-Ndidi,Aribo-Ahmed Musa,Iwobi,Moffi-Osimhen;this I think an ideal Super Eagles line-up for clash versus Liberia…
