2022 WCQ: Ighalo Calls On Abuja Fans To Play Their Part

Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia striker, Odion Ighalo, has said the Abuja fans have a big role to play in if the Super Eagles are to overcome Ghana and secure the 2022 World Cup ticket on Tuesday.

A win for the Eagles will seal qualification for this year’s World Cup holding in Qatar.

In the first leg played on Friday in Kumasi, the Eagles battled to a goalless draw against their eternal rivals.

Ighalo was an unused substitute in the encounter played in front of over 50,000 fans inside the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

And ahead of Tuesday’s tie, Ighalo harped on the importance of the fans to secure qualification.

The former Manchester United striker admitted it will be tough but the Eagles are ready to do the nation proud.

“We are condemned to win at home if we want to go to the World Cup we have to win,” Ighalo said after Sunday’s training. “We know it’s going to be a difficult game it’s going to be a tough one but the boys are ready we just call on the fans to come out in numbers to cheer us to victory on Tuesday.

“We are banking on the fans because they are our 12th men without them it’s going to be impossible so we want them to come out in numbers support us and cheer us to victory and by God’s grace we will win the game.”

Meanwhile, Samuel Chukwueze might miss the second leg clash after he sat out the team’s training on Sunday evening with a knock.

There wouldn’t have been no need for all these CALLS if the TACTICALLY DEFICIENT and one PATTERN STYLE EGUAVON had PLAYED YOU and OSIMHE in KUMASI

You are only exhibiting your immaturity by resorting to abuse or let me say you are finding it difficult to compete.

In the meantime and due to the importance of new media, a research puts the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar above other political juggernauts in his engagement with mass of Nigerian people by finding solutions to the problems bedevilling the country. I tell you that’s huge going onto 2023.

While there are over 104 million internet users in Nigeria, only about 35 million of them are on social media, with Facebook having over 29% of the total internet users and more than 90% of social media users, with its over 29 million Facebook users in Nigeria, some of who also use other social media platforms such as Completesports, Google Chat, Instagram, Snapchat and Tiktok.

That should tell you how important a click on the keyboard could go. Don’t ever underrate the reach of the internet even in your widest dream. Vincent is a member of Atiku-SportsGroup

Well said @Vincent, the ewu goat, I doubt is a proud Nigerian. May be he was forced to join in discussing Nigeria issues. Atiku is the best man to solve Nigeria problems and he has waded in by supporting the Super Eagles. This is clearly significant because football apart from making Nigerians happy, brings us together.

    Thank you Odion.

Meanwhile, a 4 3 3 that could easily be transited into a 4 4 2 formation deploying yourself, Osimhen as the head of attack that will have Lookman oscillating between attack and the MD in a 4 4 2 format, then a comparted MD made up of Amoo who is very confident in take ons with an impetus to dribble and score besides good ball distribution to either you or Osimhen who would’ve been ready to bury any half chance into the net. Aribo and Etebo would ensure Afanya Gyan is kept busy in his own half but they will be needed to provide a front cover for Ekong and Balogun who will also be big covers to Uzoho in goal. That will contain Thomas Party into defensive play instead of foraying forward. Aina and the most trusted Zaidu as full backs would be mandated to be at alert for the whole 90mins including any added time. Coach Eguavoen would ensure they run the defensive flanks holding off their opponents and sending good passes to our attackers.

With this format, the Black Stars will be confused as their job will be reduced to picking the ball from their own net. I see the SE scoring many goals. Go SE!!!

    • I like you comment and in fact, nothing to add.

Francis, I want to first of thank you for your detailed comment. I also believe there will be many goals in our favour but the Eagles must be calm and respectful. I am in Ibadan and hopefully will be in Abuja first thing tomorrow to cheer the boys on.

@Francis Eluba, it doesn’t even matter who Mr. Eguavoen selects becoz u have told him what to do. In short this ya piece is what is in everybody’s mind. I’m fully in your support. Good luck eagles.

It’s so funny seeing how omo9ja and jimmyball have turned against the tactical genius, eguaveon. Omo9ja said we would see ‘total football’, jimmyball said with the inclusion of umar, awoniyi, olayinka, Nwakali, Ndah etc, we would win the nations cup. I didn’t see a presidential welcome of our victorious eagles after winning the AFCON. Omo9ja said amuneke was needed to take us a step further and with amuneke introduced, nothing has changed
I’ll always support Nigeria but I doubt if this current coaching crew has something to offer. Rohr is still miles ahead of them all. We can’t afford to lose to Ghana. The mocking would be painful right from John dumelo, shatta wale and their fans
