2022 WCQ Playoffs: Eagles Did Not Disappoint Against Ghana In Kumasi –Okocha

Former Nigerian midfielder, Austine Okocha believes credit should be given to the Super Eagles for their impressive performance against the Black Stars of Ghana in tonight’s 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs first leg.

Nigeria held Ghana to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium Kumasi, to take a slim advantage to the second leg that will be played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Thesday, March 29.

Reacting to the team’s performance, Okocha, who was a guest on Supersports live coverage of the World Cup qualifying playoffs first leg match, stated that the players did not disappoint with their display.

He noted that the goalless draw has given the Super Eagles the chance to finish up the job in the second leg in Abuja.

“We could not separate both teams because nobody wanted to loss the game,” the former Nigeria captain stated.

“We must give credit to the players considering the fact that they have given themselves a good chance of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.”

  • Can someone tel me why Ola Aina has not been playing for Torino? Honestly I thought that guy will be match rusty..but, once more he didn’t disappoint and it seems he has made that position his.

THAT MOMENT ONYEKA SENT TWO GHANIANS TO GO BUY BANKU AT OSHODI MARKET MADE THE MATCH 0-1 IN FAVOUR OR MIGERIA FOR ME LOL

    • Because he and Ekong were at nations cup,if tell me why after returning from nations cup, they suddenly became bench warmers..?!

He’s leaving Torino this seson.. Devil Baptist them..!

  • I have said it that at the end of the SE will still play Ndidi, Etebo and Iwobi in midfield. Nobody wants to agree. Now we see that Iwobi is still the best creative midfielder will have till date.
No one else comes close to him.

Aribo can create. But Eguavoen no wan use am there. We should try Etebo Bonke or Frank and Aribo as midfielders

In Super Eagles, there are players you will always rely on to give their best at crucial moments :-Uzoho, Balogun, Aina, Zaidu, Osimhen, Aribo and Onyeka.. Add Ndidi to the list and we know there are 3 open positions in the first 11.
As from today, my support for Cerezo begins to drop..

Massive Ghana, wow!the Black Stars are a great side. Very solid midfield

    • I really enjoyed the game and much respect to the super eagles. Most teams will crack under such pressure but the super eagles held themselves quite well. You guys completely lost the midfield and your attack was not potent enough but I don’t blame you, the pressure was too much. Long live Ghana and nija

  • I don’t know coach Eguavoen did not list Akin Amoo today at least in the Bench. He is the best Creative Midfielder in the entire squad. In a game where everyone knew the BS will pack the midfield you needed a confident dribler that drive forward and create chances for the Strikers.

Also I can’t understand why Chidera Ejuke is not in the squad. He is another player who can drible well and create chances. He could be used as creative midfielder when necessary even though he plays mostly as a winger.

Moses Simon is a highly amateurish footballer, he cost Nigeria the three points. How do you miss such chance in an enemy territory? That was the best chance of the entire game. In games of this magnitude, you have to take your chance. I wish it Osimhen that got that chance. Algeria scored from a half-chance against Cameroon

Eguaveon should stop benching Etebo in this kind of matches. We need fighters, not loafers. I like his passion, the fire in his face, the hunger and the readiness to put himself in the firing line. His addition and that of onyeka, changed the complexion of the game. Let Iheanacho go back to bench. Aribo should move upfield. Etebo and Onyeka should play the double pivot, where the former will the more advanced of the two. Ghana needs to be peppered and troubled in the second leg.

Uzoho has had a very good start
    Defence line looks assuring.
    Midfield is zero
    Osimhen isolated
    Wingers hugging the sideline
    Ndidi missed.

EGUAVOEN MUST CHANGE HIS TACTICS NOW.
