If losing to Cape Vade is the only way to bring this Rohr Era to an end, I wouldn’t mind. Really tired of watching disjointed play all the time.

    • God forbid……. You should not reason that way my brother……Rhor is technically questionable but he has brought stability to the team……he has brought unity to the team……He has brought a sense of purpose to the team……he took us from nowhere and now we are a force to be reckoned with……. Please let us pray for SE and support them…… Sacking Rhor will be a disaster and it will bring instability to the national team…….I have a feeling that Rhor should be allowed to complete the afcon and WC then we should settle down and look for a good foreign coach that has the qualities we desire

      • From no where , from nowhere , from low ranking to first 35 , please enough , this team has lost everything, believe me DR Congo will humiliate this team , Omo, there is no spirit , they just play … Abi carry play ,make we play oh make them no say we no play … This team is disheartening to watch , …
I think gradually the Nigerian factor has crept its way into this fond. Just lacking the morale to serve a nation where selfless service is greatly loathed . Na wa

        • DR conco is a strong team and SE always raise their game when it comes to strong team……when we get to that river,we will cross it!

          • Abeg who are we playing if we get the chance to qualify

      • @Akp well said. Flesh and blood did not revealed that to you.

      • Akosa Ike 2 years ago

A better foreign coach. With all his qualities you honestly and rightfully outlined he is a good coach. We should be talking about a coach that is better than him.
        I think about Emmanuel Amuneke.

    • Black mind.saddist this wat motivate some people.this one can crash a plane .Boko Haram member .do u know the noba of people that wil be out of business if Nigeria loss . Even completesport will loss patronage. Let them qualify 1st den we go no wat to do after.

And God will surely put u into shame the man will go to both nations cup and world cup and will surely leave ur country for u , ur level of hatred is stinking

    • Me too. Nigerians are blinded by all these little victories. The state of football in the country is terrible. from women’s football to men’s Its not even down to the super Eagles coach alone. It is the whole sport’s in the country.

    • Olusegun.B. 2 years ago

Why are you wishing such thoughts James. This is disappointing. The issue with Rohr is far different from the desire of the ye going to the world cup. Of course I know Rohr’s tactics is suspect nevertheless it’s the national team and the need to go to the world cup is of importance. It would be a disgrace should they Gail to go .

Rohr’s issues is caused by the NFF

Good to have you back guys, please do ensure you improve on your current rating. Meanwhile, CSN it was Musa not Iheanacho that score the second goal. Best of luck.

  • Welcome guys…please complete the assignment by a resounding win over this stubborn and lousy Cape Verde…5-0 wont be a bad scoreline.
Musa and Osihmen scored and not kelechi and Osihmen..thanks CSN team

    • Always be realistic…as far as my memory serves, there has not been upto three victories with huge margins (5-0 and above) for the SE in the last in the last ten years.

The only one that comes to mind is the 6-0 win over Tahiti (an inconsequential country without a football history or legacy) at the confederations cup in 2013.

Nigeria has never been known for football efficiency despite all talent and resources.

      • Baddest 2 years ago

Massimo You are vey correct, that is why I hold Algeria in high esteem, even if Nigeria play the Djibouti that Algeria won 9 nil, the scoreline would not be more than 3 0,Nigeria doesn’t have that killer instinct always feel relaxed after leading 1 nil thereby putting themselves under unnecessary pressure. The performances of the super eagles has been underwhelming since 2019,I just pray we won’t be disgraced and be booted out from the group stage at the afcon

        • You are absolutely correct bro…but, anything is just possible. Lets keep our fingers cross and see if they will approach the game with all seriousness and devour the Cape Verde or they will seat back and play for a draw.

Even those that didn’t bother watching the live but just saw the highlights on YouTube know it was Ahmed Musa who scored the second goal after a foul on Osimehn.

Hope you guys win this match sincerely speaking it’s been a boring football all along from super eagles

      • Everyone talking boring football and someone posted let them loose so coach Can be booted out wow how dear u .pls Nigeria is the best african football nation in Africa . Believe me . On a good day this team can not be beaten.

Super eagles please be careful of haters, be focus and do your job.
May God grant you victory on Tuesday

    • It is when Super Eagles are playing pattern football that can be read by opponents and countered quickly they are looking for. Saying Gernot Rhor has been in charge for 5 years and not win anything. All that rubbish talk. Forgetting that it’s has taken approximately 15 years for France to emerge again as possible World Cup winners, since Zidane’s team. Or about 20 or more years for the 3 Lions of England to emerge again since their last great team that featured David Platt, Paul Gascoigne and co. Nigerians are ignorant everywhere. When grunt football has several times beaten teams that play a pattern. The examples are everywhere – Mourinho’s era always beating Sir Alex Ferguson, or the great AC Milan decade beating teams with patterns or even Now with Massimo Allegri or Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea that play like machines and central ball winners. Gernot Rhor is only replicating the German machinery system with Super Eagles, that is why Ndidi and Etebo are key to this team with Iwobi in the center.
I am sure by the time we get to the next stage of this qualifiers, everyone will see how important this German style of play is.

OH MY DEAR EAGLES, WHAT HATH ROHR DONE TO YOU…….Part 1

Dear Forumites, It’s with a heavy heart that I write this analysis of my beloved SE performance in recent games and appraisal of GR impacts in the team.

Like you all know, am a great fan of GR and very much believed he has done a lot in turning the SE into a somehow decent team that we all look forward to their next game with the expectations of putting smiles on our faces. However their most recent performances has left much to be desired and urgent steps needs to be taken before we nosedive seriously.

It is now as clear as crystals to me that GR is not in total control of his team selection, he has so much jettison merits for mediocrity and politics. His tactical acumen has forever been questioned on this forum but I and the progressives believe in him steering the ship to safety which I still stand by.

However, for him to succeed he will have to break up from the shackle-hold of this corrupt NFF. He needs to grow balls and dared them to sack him if he fails because we all know that it is imminent even if he dances to their tune and fail to Qualify for Qatar or fail to win AFCON.

When I saw the lineup yesterday, my opinion was that he wanted to play safe in the first half, secure a lead without conceding a goal, then come out gun-blazing in the second half to kill off the game. But I was so astounded to see his substitutions, first it was Ejuke for Iwobi at 63 mins which I will allow as fair but for Musa to come into that match replacing Iheanacho was a total joke while we have Chukwueze on the bench.

Let me start with the defenders, why on earth he chose to start Collins ahead of Ola Aina or Zaidu beats my imaginations. Collins offer little to no threats going forward, so I believe that he is not suitable as a wing back and should only be used 4-3-3 formation. I expected to see Akpoguma in action for at least 10 mins in that match to come in for either Balogun or Ekong in the closing stage to give this young man a sense of belonging in the team and integrate him gradually into our central defence pairing knowing fully well that Balogun is now often injury prone and now low on pace due to age.
We can’t afford to simply throw Akpoguma into the deep end by the time we face stronger and skilful team in the AFCON and 3rd round knockout stage of WC qualifier, now is the time to allow him gel into that defence and settle nicely.

I really hope GR will make amends on Tuesday by reverting to 4-3-3 with Aina-Ekong-Balogun-Awaziem/Akpoguma in our defence. If you guys will remember that Aina’s best performance till date was in the left side of the defence, that delicious back heel assist to Ighalo again Burundi at AFCON 2019 was a marvel to watch

    To be continued…………..

OH MY DEAR EAGLES, WHAT HATH ROHR DONE TO YOU…….Part 2

Now to the SE Achilles heel………..our midfield.

It’s obvious that we are covered in the central midfield position but of great concerns is our playmaker position which Iwobi plays. Ndidi and Onyeka should be given the central midfield role while Shehu / Etebo covers on the bench in case of injury.

I believe that Rohr should alternate the playmaker role between Aribo and Iwobi for now instead of starting both of them thereby playing one of them out of position. One of these 2 guys should come in as substitute when the other is tired and the next match the substituted AM can start while the other comes in. That way, competition for places will be healthy and improve their output as one will want to outshine the other with scintillating performance.
However I still believe GR should continue his search for a befitting additional playmaker with an eye for defence splitting pass with much more accuracy and also with a better goal threat. We need to step up our chase for Ebere Eze, Olise and Lookman, am sure we can still lure these guys to commit to us if we go about it the right way.

Now to the wings, we all know that this department used to be our strong points in recent years, even during GR’s early period in the 2018 WC qualifiers where Victor Moses and Active Musa hold sways for us then. But since Moses retired and Musa ran to Saudi for money, we haven’t been able to discover able replacement. Kalu came but fizzled out.

Chukwueze is trying his best but yet to hit the heights expected of him possibly due to his youthfulness. Injury also plays a part here. Dennis would’ve been a good fit but his attitude and discipline is a great concern.
Ejuke needs to be given more playing / starting role in the wings as he needs more space for his dribbles, he’s not yet ripe for AM role as we can see yesterday, not capable of dribbling in tight spaces yet.

Simon to me has been largely unproductive in this role and am not sure what Rohr see in him, I think he should only be brought in to shore up our defence when we are leading and need to close the match up against a quality team.
Another angle I want GR to look at is the issue of this inverted wingers role, thibshas not really worked for SE, I believe he should try these winger on their natural side, eg. Chukwueze/Simon on the left and Ejuke/Kalu/Dennis on the right, am sure we will get our desires crosses and assists from that position.

Rohr as a coach needs to properly study his players output after each match, critically assess their individual performance with extensive video analysis during the time players are back in their clubs, make notes of their area of improvement and when the players return for international duty, he should call each of them into a room the first day of arrival, show each the clips of their performance and corrections highlighted to each of these players while clarifying to each how he wants them to play to enhance increased productivity and team cohesion

    To be continued…………….

    • Mercy 2 years ago

On current form Awaziem is the best central defender we have now. His game has improved alot. The way is giving those defense splitting pass from deep is a testament to personal training. First one, the cross to Balogun goal against CAR and the cross to ihenacho penalty against liberia. For me it is Awaziem with any other person in the central defence when playing 442. Atleast that should teach some of our wingers some sense. They should learn how to make crosses. Aribo need to be on the bench. After is first two games in the SE, he had offer little to the team.

      • Coache 2 years ago

You spoke well about Awaziem, it was Collins cross that led to the first goal from open play against Cabo Verde. Then Ekong against CAR. No pass from midfielders.

You goofed about Aribo, he likes going forward but was caged by ROHR tactical higi haga. The way the players play reflects the mind of the coach. Rohr is disaster waiting to happen

        • Mercy 2 years ago

          @coache
The cross to balogun for our first goal against Central African Republic was from Awaziem.

  • I have read most of the comments on this thread, and what I can clearly see is that although most are still sitting on the fence it is clear there eyes are open. You see the thing is simple Nigeria is dysfunctional. I mean for an NFF president to keep meddling in the teams affairs shows you something. His primary and only focus is Super Eagles which should not be so his portfolio and job description is that of Nigeria Football Association not Nigerian Male Football Association.

That being said the reason his focus is primarily on the male senior squad is simple he has obviously seen the financial gain that is possible with back door dealings. I mean inviting Salisu Yusuf a known Bribe taker should have raised eyebrows on the integrity of the President.

Anyway. Pinnick is always following this team on their travels to the point that he is the one giving the pep talks?????? really!!!. I mean why is this man in every single camp but when the falcons play he hardly visits them.

A president imposes the a useless captain on a coach??. SAD! does he have the best interest of the nation with that call??. well when you rank Musa against the wingers missing each international break, Victor Moses, Ademola Lookman, Emma Dennis, Akinkunmi Amoo to name a few, then you have your answer. it was the same Pinnick who Told Rohr to bring back Ighalo. So pinnick Gives the pep talks and selects the team + Team plays with no coordination. SO ask yourself who is the Coach.

It is simple. Nigeria needs to do things properly. Look at other Footballing countries and see if the President is following the team up and down. Let us be honest. Nigeria football is doomed until personal interest stops taking priority over fairness and MERIT! Period!..

I am sorry to say. We may be in for a rude awakening. But, Come four years later we will still be debating with some NFF officials on this forum as to why Injustice is still taking place in our football.. Which ever nation does things fairly and on Merit will progress on Tuesday it is that simple. I warned everybody a few weeks back. If this is what needs to happen for the reform of our football, then so be it.

Most times disappointment and Sadness is the best bringer about of Change. Again Next time we should all band together and root out evil.. Nigeria vs Cape Verde. will be the Judge of Rohr and Pinnick

  • Competition for places should be the norm in this team. ONLY the best. They have started with corruption and Mother nature does not like Corruption. THE fact remains Pinnick and Rohr HAVE TO GO!!. And if we win they will be praised and if we lose they will be crucified so it is a catch 22.. Win or Loose our Football will still suffer because they won’t change this mentality. they have set a bad president in this team. with the double standard nature of doing things. I can tell you that camp is not all rosy.

Fingers crossed if we win against Cape Verde a “BIG IF” then hierarchy need to step in before March Knockouts Musa and Shehu and any player who does not Merit a call up should NOT BE CALLED UP!!. The Knock outs will be a deadly affair no ROOM FOR WEAKNESS IN THE SQUAD. My people that is of course if we scale through the very tough Cape Verde assignment.

And Oga Pinnick should be ordered to Stop or limit his meddling I can imagine he and his officials are distracting the players.

PLEASE Going Forward I hope we can all band together to Call Evil when we see it and Call Spade a Spade. As you can all see We only meant well!. Thank you and good day my brothers and sisters! (If there is any sisters on this chat )

The lesson from Lisbon. When Serbia defeated Portugal before the mammoth crowd in Lisbon i knew that Nigerians ought to learn few lessons from the outcome of the match. The first lesson is that results or outcome of football matches is as a result of the technical input from a competent coach. The second lesson is that you don’t rely on big names in order to win matches. The third lesson is that home support may not determine the outcome of world cup matches. Mr rhor or roar and mr picnic you have a date with history tommorow.

      • Jide Dola 2 years ago

Lesson 4, there are no underdogs anymore in football so you guys should stop yelling that we couldn’t beat Liberia more than 2

  • Daddy Rohr, don’t defend tomorrow. If they score you. Score back. Lets the best defensive setup win the game. I expect to see Ejuke Osimehn Chukwueze, then double pivot of Frank Oyenka and Ndidi to neutralize attacking threats and our mistake prone defense line which can be easily sorted with few tweaks. Then Iwobi spare heading the attacking midfielder department. In the defense I expect to see combination of Awaziem (RB) Akpoguma (CB), BALOGUN (CB) Aina (LB)/Sanusi. Collins should sits for next match. He can’t bust forward.

    • @Ayo you are seeing the light Gbam.

Now you have seen the light.. I would have like to also have Brendan Rodgers go to guy for Goals Ademola Lookman in the bench to be called upon in this Cape Verde game. Rohr is not pro active. Does he religiously follow our abroad legitimate players. If not the case could be the unpaid salaries. If that is the case he should resign and take NFF to international court really I mean that for his best interest no Cap1 NFF need to answer why this man is not respecting his Job any longer. Frankly and I will like to see Pinnick and NFF loose the case so they learn thier lesson not to play with Peoples lively hoods while enriching their Greedy selves.

wasting the spots in the team on So called experience players who didn’t even hit 20 goals in their entire career is not the way to go oga rohr. Haba. it is clear that we need as much dynamism as possible. It is so frustrating. Imagine after what you saw on Saturday. Who would you rather call upon on the wings Musa or For instance Victor Moses or Ademola Lookman.

  • Ekong, Collins, Simon should sits. They are not better that others..

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

He doesn’t have the balls to bench Ekong or Simon……. Watch hoe Ranieri is going to start benching Ekong. After Olympic experience, Worldcup experience, nations cup, and numerous international assignments Ekong still makes school boy mistakes and has this momentary Loss of concentration that can result in a calamity.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Shameful to know that we kind of struggled to get wins in almost all out games. Even tho two teams in the group could not play their home games at their original home. We Probably would have been knocked out by non if we had to play CAR in Bangui and Liberia in Monrovia.

  • Mutum 2 years ago

Awaziem is better more composed defender and reliable than our so called oyibo wall… Rohr, pair awaziem and akpoguma 5&6. Aina and sanusi 2&3. Very simple… Inshort,Rohr na fear fear

  • Jide Dola 2 years ago

My fellow Rohr supporters help me beg Rohr not to start playing defensive football against cape Verde after we most have scored 1, he should not try it. You know how rythme of game could change when a team is playing defensively. He shouldn’t put us under unnecessary pressure. I can’t say this to everybody bcos I already know that large number of people want him to fail.
