2023 U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles Defeat Mozambique To Book Quarter-final Spot

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Mozambique 2-0 in their last Group A game on Saturday.

First half wonder goals from Samson Lawal and Ibrahim Muhammad secured the Flying Eagles passage into the last eight.

It is the Flying Eagles’ second win in the group after edging Egypt 1-0 in their second game in the group.

Lawal broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute as he received the ball close to Mozambique box and volleyed into the bottom corner.

And in the 41st minute Muhammad doubled the lead after hitting a rocket of a shot from outside the box into the top corner.

  • Congratulations guys.

But you can do better. If you continue playing like this you may lose to Senegal in the final.

Congratulations keep improving and please start the NO9 guy ahead of the Ayuba guy who was just playing against us instead of converting begging chances. The GK should be the captain in my own opinion because he organises the team defence and shows great awareness to deal with dangerous situations. He is a super eagles prospect!!!

The goalkeeper and the defense are the backbone of this team. The midfield without Daga are holding their own especially that high school kid Ogbelu. I still have my reservations about Lawal, but that was a sumptuous goal. I think we have a good defense and midfield, but the attack is absolutely terrible. Bosso should start Abdulhahi as the top 9 flanked by Mohamed and that number 7. It will be hard for Nwosu to claim his number 1 spot back from Aniaboso.

We move to the next stage all the best FlyingEagles. The top teams in the tournament so far are Senegal Nigeria and Gambia. We might meet Senegal again in the final if we both make it that far. WorldCup ticket is non negotiable.

I love this team, just missing a proper number 9 to soak that net, they played solid football from the difense to attack, that number 11 is another armed musa, he is such a general in the field, please pesero should give him the number 10 jersey of supereagles he will do better than aribo, i also like the goal keeper, we finaly got a real goal keeper he should join eagles immediately, he is met for eagles, these are bunch of talents, i am impressed with the north this time they give us golds lawal, mohamed and sarki realy entertained me, i also miss daniel daga that guy is a supereagles material too, the number 14 with more hardwork will be a beast in the eagles midfield, i will only pick Friedrich from the difense for now to join the eagles, i hope to see him partner ndah in the nest olympics. Weldone boys, that number 11 is a general one more time.

I think we have a future Super Eagles goalkeeper in Aniagboso.

  • I wonder at the above praises. This is the worst Nigeria national team match I have watched in 5 years. Mediocrity on parade.

This team will not qualify for the world cup. Mark this.

Football they played and it was my first match watched was very unappealing

Defense you praised was barely tested and when it was, the keeper often spilled the balls.

Let’s stick with converting foreign born players for the super eagles for there will be no stand out one at home

Exactly, there is too much nepotism in this team. They might be improving but they are not up to the hype they were giving them before the tournament. I noticed the attackers are selfish. The keeper and the defense is holding this team, we have no midfield and i hope Daga comes back to stabilize things. Well lets see what they have to offer at the next stage

You are just a critist, if the team doesnt play well howcome the opponent couldnt test the deffense?
    You need redbull my guy,
The mohamen i have watched so far, from wafu to the afcon is the ideal number 10 for supereagles, he is got all the quality, he can also play as a winger like he is doing right now, but we have alot of good wingers at the moment. The guy is a complete play maker and if i was to be the supereagles coach i will play him as number 10 for eagles without any sentiments this is the under20 level football where the likes of mikel obi, sanni keita, echejile, taiye taiwo, efe ambrose, brown ideye, ahmed musa, omeruo all moved directly from here to eagles and they were all eceptional, 4 players plus keeper from this team should join the supereagles, but that Muhammad di maria, number 11 is another osihmen for eagles, pesero should tell nike to update our number ten jersey

Bro seems your Tv is upside down, don’t know what you saw in this team. Even the defense is edgy. The only person deserving a call up is just the 2 goalkeepers, even the under 17 will go toe to toe with team. The attack is just porous.

The team is poor no inter play wrong passes typical Karan Bossi team mediocre to the core but Njoku,Fredricks are good players .
