President Bola Ahmed has challenged the Super Falcons to come out with a
win against Australia on Thursday (today).
The former African champions will face the Matildas in their second group game at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the Brisbane Stadium.
Tinubu in a statement released by Dele Alake, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, urged the players to give their best against the co-hosts.
“I take immense pride in the Super Falcons impressive performance in the opening match against Canada, a formidable opponent and the reigning Olympic Champion.
’I firmly believe that the upcoming match on Thursday will be a thrilling encounter that will culminate in victory for the Nigerian team,’’ he said.
The Super Falcons held Olympic champions Canada to a 0-0 draw in their first game.
The West Africans currently occupy third position in Group B, with one point from one game.
Randy Waldrum’s side must avoid defeat against Matildas to stand a chance of progressing to the Round of 16.

Breaking News:
Oshoala and Ordega dropped as Waldrum reshuffles starting line up – reports deo
Waldrum has pulled a massive suprise by dropping heavyweights Ordega and multiple award winning Oshoala from his staring line up against Australia.
As widely predicted, Ayinde and Ajibade return from suspension to walk straight into the starting 11 with Kanu making her first starting 11 berth.
Meaning, the team has greater lubricants in the wings and Onumonu has the opportunity to flex her muscles as an out and out centre forward with rapid fire support from the wings – the sort of support and supply she wasn’t always able to provide Oshoala.
Ayinde will seek to improve on the poor attacking passing range of Abiodun whilst maintaining Abiodun’s world class work rate and teamwork.
Demehin and Ohale seek to improve their chemistry with Plumptre growing in confidence into the right fullback position. She was unsuccessful in delivering crosses, something we hope she has improved on.
Nnadozie’s knees were heavily bandaged which worried me. I wish her vigour and heath to her legs so as to aid her mobility and movement.
The bench now has Oparanozie who will be eager to taste action and draw blood.
This is the day, these are the girls, let the battle begin!
I love this line up..
Drop oshaloa and bring kanu, she has always had a good game each time she comes in as a second half substitute.. thjs should teach oshoala some lessons that she has to deliver if she must retain her starting shirt..
I will love to see oparanozie again in another world cup, she knows how lucky she was to make this squad after her issues with the football administrators.. I need her to silence them once and for all..
Wishing the ladies a good game
Oshoala is currently Injured, Hence the reason for her absence.
She is not injured! Had a slight knock yes, but she made the squad for this match and is on the bench..
She can come in in the second half..
Osoala is nursing a knock that’s the reason she’s starting from the bench. No coach will drop a fit Osoala. Nevertheless this is a good line up. Let’s hope for the best Ayinde and Ajibade’s return should make them more compact and also create chances for the for the forwards. Ucheibe can dictate play and shoot at goal. She plays like Mikel used to play for the SuperEagles. Very strong on the ball with well timed tackles. All the best ladies. Let’s get the job done.
She made the team for This match.
If she was injured , she will not be the squad for the game..
The injury she had must have been a minor one…
I want to see how oshola comes in as a substitute , if she can bring what kanu has be doing in the past
