In the second half, Montenegro extended their dominance, increasing their lead to a 10-point margin, leaving Nigeria on the brink of elimination after losing two group-stage matches.

The match ended 26-9, with Nigeria finishing with single digits—a slightly better result compared to their first match, which Croatia won 33-11.

Montenegro’s victory against Nigeria placed them and Croatia at the top of the group, with Montenegro in second position and Croatia in first, both qualifying for the next round.

Nigeria, along with fellow African country Angola, have not won any of their first two matches. Angola lost their first match to Montenegro 26-16 and fell 30-14 to Croatia in their second clash.

Nigeria will face Angola in their third match, while Montenegro will take on Croatia on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
