Ahead of tonight’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin, former Nigerian international Ifeanyi Udeze says he’s confident the Super Eagles will get a positive result despite the late arrival of some players to camp.
Recall that some of the players invited for the clash against the Cheetahs arrived at camp late due to travel issues.
However, a point against Benin will secure a place for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2025, but the team will be looking to claim maximum points, especially as the game will be played in Abidjan, Ivory Coast due to Benin’s lack of a suitable stadium.
Reacting to the development, Udeze, who expressed his displeasure with the late arrival of some players to camp, told Brila FM that he’s still optimistic the team will get a good result against Benin.

“No matter the travel problems the players may have encountered, it is expected that the players should have left on Monday and arrived at camp on Tuesday.
“Regardless of that, the Super Eagles remain our team and we must support them. For me, I think the player’s morale is high in camp and wants to win the game. But my only fear is that some of the players have yet to have good two training to catch their breath.
“That’s why you see some teams when they play away, they travel early so that they can train and acclimatize with the weather there. So that’s my only fear because most of the players are to acclimatize to the weather in Ivory Coast.
“I think the Super Eagles will find it a little bit difficult but that won’t stop the team from playing well. I don’t see Benin beating the Super Eagles. If we don’t beat then then I expect a draw.”
