Stand-in captain, Kenneth Omeruo, has described Francis Uzoho as the best Super Eagles goalkeeper currently.
Uzoho has received lots of criticisms from Nigerians following series of errors which has led to goals against the Eagles.
The latest was against Saudi Arabia in an international friendly where he parried a free kick into his own net.
He still gets criticised for conceding a soft goal in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff against Ghana.
Following the barrage of criticisms , Uzoho took to his X handle to respond to the criticisms which did not go down well with most of the fans.
As the team het prepared to kickoff the qualifiers on Thursday Omeruo, in Wednesday’s press conference, disclosed that all the Super Eagles players are behind Uzoho despite the backlash from fans.

“We as players we are behind him because personally he is the best goalkeeper we have now, a lot of people might disagree because he made one or two mistakes but we should not forget some of the best games he has had for us.
“We need Nigerians to be behind our goalkeepers because it is not easy to be in goal for Nigeria, I’m not a goalkeeper but I know the kind of pressure that is there.”
The 2013 AFCON winner praised Uzoho for the way he has taken every criticism which shows how tough he is.
On the failure to reach the last World Cup and how he and his teammates plan to approach the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, he said:“Missing out on the last World Cup was painful and I know the players know this and we’ve had discussions as well and know how important this game is. We’ve had two meetings with the coaches and we’ve talked about it.”
He also spoke on the games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
“There are no teams that are push overs so we have to approach them (Lesotho) with all seriousness and fight to start very well. The goal is to win the two games and this is the mentality that we have.“

Na Peserio I blame for this nonsense. See stat wey I see yesterday. While it may be true that the Super Eagles have no quality goalkeeper, Uzoho no join. Plays for Omonia Nicosia but has just one substitute appearance in the league for the club in the last 11 months.
Uzoho kuku be reserve goalkeeper for a club sitting in fifth position in a fifth-tier European league.

But maybe she is so good that Uzoho is struggling to believe how good and lucky he is, forgetting he is outta bed and on the pitch playing for SE OF NIGERIA. We have forgotten to ask why this guy lost confidence after his performance against Brazil and Manchester??? Uzoho is to blame though because he should move to a better club and also get better training because he should be improving and not retrogressing.
What I see in this team is camaraderie and togetherness.
I watched the press conference and Peseiro said ‘Uzoho has my confidence’. He said midfielders miss chances, strikers flunk begging chances and defenders mess up regularly yet people only single out goalkeeper errors.
Peseiro acknowledged Uzoho’s error against Saudi Arabia which has been dealt with.
It was truly great to see Omeruo leap to Uzoho’s defence emphatically in pigeon English.
For me Uzoho now has to repay all that vote of confidence. Any more errors should lead to consideration for a replacement.

And as for captitanu Omerua, this guy is the best defender currently in the SE’s, very fast guy with excellent speed and positional play and great recovery, magnificent in the air as all his goals in the opposition box and clearances in his own box clearly shows! In fact this guy is not only the best defender in the SE’s, but Africa and the whole world at large! Who is Virgil Van Dyke when we are talking about Kenny Omerua lool!
