Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed displeasure over the lack of adequate training sessions ahead of Tuesday’s Geoup L, matchday 2, 2027 AFCON qualifier against Guinea-Bissau, completesports.com reports.
Inadequate Training Sessions A Concern
Chelle said the congested FIFA window has made it difficult for the technical crew to properly drill the team.
“We didn’t have some training sessions to work a lot and this is the problem of this kind of FIFA window,” Chelle said at the pre-match press conference in Bissau on Monday.
“You have only one or two training sessions to prepare, after that you have one or two training sessions to recover and you have to travel.”
The Super Eagles arrived in Bissau on Sunday evening after just two days of training in Uyo, with some foreign-based players joining the camp late due to club commitments.
Despite the limited preparation time, Chelle assured that the team is ready to fight for all three points against the Djurtus.
Guinea-Bissau top the group after opening their campaign with a 2-0 win away to Tanzania.
This will be the third meeting between the Super Eagles and Guinea-Bissau in AFCON qualifiers, with the previous two clashes ending in wins apiece.
What To Expect From Guinea-Bissau
Asked about his thoughts about Guinea-Bissau, Chelle said:”Guinea-Bissau, they have a great team and they have some players who play in Europa so this is a big game and the most important thing for us is to try to go forward, try to get the victory but it would not be easy.
He added:”We have to stay focused on our group and our state of mind which is the most important thing.”
