President of the Nigeria Football Federation Ibrahim Gusau has assured the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles are yet to record a win in Group C with three draws and one defeat from four games.
The West Africans currently occupy fifth position in the group with three points.
Despite their precarious position, Gusau is optimistic they can earn a place at the mundial.

“This is a very sad moment for Nigeria football and we can not run away from that, what I can assure you is that we’re working tirelessly with the Sports Minister to make sure we take some holistic measures that will change the entire system,” Gusau said after a meeting with the sports minister today in Abuja.
“It’s still possible (to qualify for World Cup) and we’re going to make it.
“Very soon you will see the measures that NFF will come up with that will qualify us to the next World Cup.
“Before the next round of the World Cup qualifiers, we will play all the 2025 AFCON qualifiers this year.
“That will prove to Nigerians the steps we will take to qualify for the World Cup.”

these people no nothing about football do you think other countries in the group are mumu? with these present eagles, I doubt they are not ready to break the leg for Nigeria.
Fdp aboki you have no business in that office, please leave Nigeris football alone. This is not Suya business that you will be approaching with stupid recipe just to fit in your criminal agendas as always.
If them call you TRIBAL BIGOT now, you go dey VEX..in as much as ABOKI means FRIEND when put to ENGLISH from HAUSA. But the CONTEXT in which you use it here can be SEGREGATING and DEMEANING…I mean in a NATIONAL and GLOBAL FORUM like this is not ACCEPTABLE…
If them call you TRIBAL BIGOT now you go dey VEX…in as much as ABOKI means FRIEND in English the manner in which u used it now is so segregating and DEMEANING in a NATIONAL and GLOBAL FORUM like this is unacceptable…u even put suya join…
Shut the fk up money. Call it whatever you want you and who want to dey discuss tribe abeg commot for here. Some of you can be very annoying with primitive mentality.
Call me names all you want bro…have said what I said…peace…
Monkey Post, thank you very much for calling him out. The last time I called him a bigot, he was literally foaming in his mouth. I do not just call out people, I actually notice their pattern of posts before reaching my conclusions. To make matters even worst, he was trying to gaslight you by calling you primitive. Lol…wonders shall never end. Spare-part selling Mutant.
Abi o @Sunny you can Imagine me..he is calling me primitive..in the actual sense he is referring to himself..
This is really in bad tatse. You igbo guys should stop ethnic hatred abeg. I don’t support Gusau but not because of his ethnicity. Amaju Picnic is a southerner and equally clueless. The name Chima and tribalism an 5 and 6.
By now I don’t need to tell you all to start giving GENERAL ROAR his FLOWERS.
DAM!! That man is so FU.KING GOOD MEN!!
He was just being UNDERATED by all the LET US FAIL WITH OUR OWN CREW. even before the MATCH they UNDERATED him but am glad that you all can now REALIZE how GOOD he is…
Omo the man (GENERAL ROAR) use just one MATCH cause GOBE(PROBLEM) for NIGERIA FOOTBALL SECTOR…HIM shake everywhere. Caused CHAOS.. LMAO! PANDEMONIUM… hahahaha everywhere is now in DISARRAY…. hahahahahahaha
You can’t blame players or coaches although we need world class coach but NFF is problem of Nigeria football. Politicians plenty for glass house and EFCC can’t probe them and fans want those guys to break they legs for corupt NFF! Una think say they no get sense!
See these smelly cow, don’t worry Nigeria will qualify by bribing other countries. Sometimes I will we can divide this country, this sabotaging and incompetence is just too much. Imagine a county losing players like Musala, Akanji,Saka, folorunsho,Alaba.
Don’t worry , we lost them because they are not meant for us. We still have Goodman, Okonkwo, Felix Agu, Felix Udokhai, Gabby Osho, Tosin Adarabioyo, Jordan Torunarigha,
Benjamin Francis, Ugo Ogbu, Lesley Ugockukwu, Chukwuemeka, Caleb Okoli, Jonas David, Noni Madueke, Sam Edozie, Justin Njinmah, Dominic Solanke, Elijah Adebayo to be running after and many strange names are still coming out next season.
Players like Ndidi, Iheanacho, Iwobi, Bassey , Simon, are good but they need good players to keep them on their toes.
And players like Ajayi, Ekong , Omeruo should be getting ready to say good bye. By now, Ekong supposed to be playing most games from the bench but somehow, he’s still the best we have which is disastrous.
mr sean, pls just shut up!
Lol not only Ndidi, Iheanacho, Iwobi, what about Onuachu? You forgot Onuachu na – arrant nonsense!
Only God knows why people like you who have absolutely no clue about what a good footballer looks like will be commenting every here and there about football
Thank God the bloody nff have been stung into action and let’s hope they employ someone with brain not a person like you or finidi who thinks iwobi, iheanacho and onuachu are Nigeria’s best footballers lolz chaii!
He didn’t say they are Nigeria’s best footballers, he just said they are good and lack of adequate competition has made them relax hence their present state. But you didn’t need need to insult him na. Let’s be calming down in discussion forums and desist from being insultive. It won’t solve anything. We will just be playing the scripts of those on top who want to keep us distracted.
So Nigeria and Gasau instead of Going for the best and giving us Herve Renard they want to give us Antonio Conceicao a coach that was bundled out by Jose Peseiro in the just concluded AFCON why is NFF always short HAnding us so in the face of our WC elimination they are still going for a Coach that Hugo Broos out performed in AFCON?
I don’t think Antonio Conceicao handled any team at the just concluded Afcon. It seems he’s still jobless after being sacked by Cameroun despite placing third with them at the 2021 Afcon in Cameroun. So, neither Rohr nor Broos have faced him in Africa.
Besides, Owngoal reports rumors and doesn’t bother to verify news before publishing it, so take any report there with a pinch of salt.
Conceicao also applied for the SE job alongside Guardiola’s former assistant Torrent, former Tanzanian national coach Amuneke, US U19 coach Essien, etc. The Gambia coach Tom Saintfiet, who’s been dying to coach the SE, and SA legend Pitso Mismane probably applied, too.
Any of these people could have done a decent job, but alas, Gusau and Eguavoen decided to handpick the least qualified, who neither applied for nor was interviewed for the job. Eguavoen should be the first to get the sack!
Whatever they do, they should do it fast and possibly outsource the recruitment to a reputable professional body to guarantee transparency and quality outcomes. The NFF should not conduct interviews internally as sentiments and biases will cloud their judgment and ruin the process as they did with Finidi cos he’s supposedly “coolheaded” and a yesman.
Amunike and Essien wouldnt have a better job than Finidi
This loser dreams , I think with these bad policies by NFF administration and the stupid minister who insisted on hiring clueless coach Finidi George , they all now are returing to the right track to hire foriegn technical advisor or foriegn coach for Super Eagles; Nigeria football dilemma lain on mismanagement by clueless and stupid administrators, so Nigeria football need an excellent and exprience and honest administrators to realize their development…
Keep dreaming Gusau Joseph
STORY + STORY = STORY!!!!!!
HOW DO YOU EXPECT US TO QUALIFY WITH 3 POINTS FROM A POSSIBLE 12 POINTS EVEN IF WE WIN THE REMAINING SIX MATCHES WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE NOT EVEN IF MESSI, RONALDO, MBAPE, IN THE TEAM.
WHEN ONE FAILS TO DO THE RIGHT THING, THAT’S THE RESULT HE GET.
YOUR DESIRE TO SAVE COST BY GOING FOR A LOCAL COACH, HAS COST US THE WORLD CUP TICKET
FOR YOUR INFORMATION ANY OF THE TOP THREE TEAMS WITH 7 POINTS EACH JUST NEEDED TO WIN ONLY THREE AND A DRAW OF THEIR REMAINING SIX MATCHES TO QUALIFY. SO EVEN IF WE WIN OUR REMAINING SIX MATCHES, WE ARE GOING NOWHERE.IT’S A PITY THAT THIS GENERATION WILL NOT EXPERIENCE THE WORLD CUP.
MR.SPORTS MINISTER AND MR.NFF CHAIRMAN JUST FOCUS ON THE 2025 AFCON, PARA-VENTURE WE MIGHT QUALIFY.
